I need some time away... (break complete)

Things aren't what they used to be.

I been a part of this community for a good year now. I bore witness to all kinds of things, partaken in many events, had some amazing experiences (both in game and, surprisingly, on the forums) and even did some work for the staff (first as a mentor, then as a moderator).

But lately, things don't feel quite right... The game I used to play has changed a lot, and not quite in the way I expected. I struggle to find the right wording to express myself, but at the very least, I can say that things that once brought me excitement are no longer all that, well, exciting.

Doesn't help that lately I been feeling quite... Down, I suppose. I used to get excited to get back from work to play a few rounds, but now it feels like I'm only doing it for reasons other than my own enjoyment. Keeping my whitelists active? Keeping my name known among the community? Certainly doesn't feel like much fun having to do things out of necessity rather than because I want to have a good time. In fact, it might even explain that kind of empty feeling I been having lately. Not like being predator is a lot of fun anyways nowadays, and as much as I want to be a CO/Synth, I often have so many other neglected roles that it is hard for me to catch up on EVERY role in the game and give them equal attention. Maybe I take this game too seriously...

Trust me, though... I don't want to QUIT this community. This community is special to me, a place where I feel like one of the guys instead of just some random person that comes on and plays, who no one really gives a crap about and their opinions. It is one of the few communities I get to feel... Cool. And I'd hate to abandon all my comrades and fans so easily. It's just that I need more than a week to properly "recharge", so to speak.

Could be as little as two weeks, to as long as two months. Maybe even longer? I'm not sure. Knowing myself, I doubt I can stay away from this game for that long, heh, but at the same time I really should leave it to age a little, let the devs tinker with it and mix it up a bit. Maybe by the time I return, the game will feel completely different (and I hope the GOOD kind of different) and I'll be able to enjoy it again like I used to before I played simply out of obligation and play it for FUN again.

One of the hardest parts of this (other than the fact that I'm risking my hard earned whitelists, although honestly I probably care more about the CO status than any other nowadays) is the fact that I am staff, and if there is one thing I learned, it is that quite a few members of the team would feel sad to see me go. That really does make this difficult, because while I was planning on only a short term service anyways, I'd feel bad leaving the team. Sure, I wasn't the best, but I always tried my best to do my job and contribute back to the community as I always wanted. It felt satisfying helpin folks out here and there when I could, and MAYBE doing a few things I wasn't supposed to do, but doing it anyways because it felt like the right thing to do.

Honestly, I think I rambled on enough. This was a hard decision for me to make, but I really think I could do with some PROPER time away. Maybe a month or two will do me some good, and when I get back, hopefully things will have improved to my liking. That, and that a lot of familiar faces still remain. Would be a damn shame to see more good folk disappear.

But really, I decent break is almost needed to enjoy a game like ss13, since playing non-stop starts to feel like you're just going through the motions instead of playing. And who knows, with how updates go sometimes, the entire game might change in a week. Hope to see you around man.

It is natural to burn out, a break will do you good. Can't you ask for extended leave or something if you really want to keep your staff position?
