As much as I like Bill Paxton and John Hurt, I'd rather not name it after them. It's a little too stern and I'd rather not be reminded of their deaths each time I play CM.

CM is, in general, fairly serious, but we have our moments of silliness, vulgarity and excessiveness. I'd really prefer not to muddle that in with something as meaningful as a memorial. It can (and will) look pretty bad, because the dropships are basically a slaughterhouse.


That being said (sorry if I got so serious), my two names are Lone-star (Green, with a Texan flag emblem) and Thunderbolt (Blue, with a lightning bolt emblem).

Aside from this I think the dropship should be renamed to a major dev in Pre Alpha such as Infernas and Joshua... these guys were a very polite devs back then.

I do like these names a lot, and he makes a good point. Now that we have the memorial room we could have it say, "Among the warriors two names stick out, Bill Paxton and John Hurt."

Exactly. That's a much better way to pay tribute (if that is our intention) in my opinion. It's just much more appropriate.

I hadn't thought of that until you said that. And personally, I really like the gardens. Its an appropriate place for it.

Only names I could think of that had some symbolism to them, and in an OOC sense, it highlights our first 2 Alpha Edition maps/game modes; Shiva's Snowball (an Arctic colony with a blue color theme) and LV-426 Lazarus (a mostly green, jungle setting). Plus the Rasputin is a gunship and is much larger (Ares was superior to Athena, in certain aspects; and he's the God of War, and Athena is the Goddess of Strategy, Knowledge, and Wisdom)
