Adding a heartbeat monitor display

Post by TopHatPenguin » 27 Nov 2016, 18:55

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Add a heart beat monitor display which Bo's can also look at from the Sulaco.

Visual representation:
Image

The added details around the heartbeat monitor would also be nice to add, mission time and Name being the most important imo.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Something a Bo can rely on when the camera is out of action and it improves that sweet, sweet immersion.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Add in a visual display which is a separate option to the camera from the Bo's computer.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): coding and a small bit of spriting.

It works only on the Z-level the CMC is on.

I'm almost positive that doesn't give you a cool atmospheric fitting and lore view of a players heart beat from the comfort of the bridge as a Bo, and as such this suggestion is here.

Command should get one of those CMC machines in the Bridge, and have it organized in Squads. Make it a lot like the movie! +1 pls

Would be really neat to see in although, no idea if it's actually do-able as in sprite wise.

Either way it'd be neat so here's a good ol'bump.

Hold the phone Snype! This post needs to be defibbed!

+1 Knowing when your men are dying or still kicking is a huge advantage in knowing how to adapt to strategy against the xenos. Even though there'd be more lag generated, I would honestly enjoy having the ability to direct medics to the location of another Marine from a different squad.
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

We already have this in ss13, you jsut have 3 sprite states for health: healthy is green stable heart beat, medium is orange unhealthy heart beat sign, and critical is some weird jaggey stuff.

You just need an animated sprite for each state (or not, you can just let it be a stable image), but thats up to the spriters to do the leg work on that.
Gaze upon me,
for I have wandered deep into the ancient tombs of knowledge to which lie madness and sorrow, cleansing a path for all those who walk behind me...

...

But seriously, does uh, anyone know the way out?!

~Furthermore, I consider that Floodlights should no longer be destroyed.~

1+ could give good insight of squad health status so command can know the combat readiness or when to withdraw squads/troops from the front line, as crab_spider said "could give a whole know tactical advantage".

Thats on TG code, not old baycode. This can be done using the landing/ice map that is already in the game, and putting dots on it with the colors for health status, exclamation marks can be SLS?

+1 because immersion.

Also lets replace the HP indicator with a fancy little heartbeat monitor thing.
