Bleeding for xenos - Not what ya think.

Post by TopHatPenguin » 30 Nov 2016, 16:00

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Have it so if a xeno is on X amount of health it will cause that xeno to 'bleed' providing a nice bleed effect for combat and xenos while in actuality they aren't bleeding or get a debuff for it, it just bleeds to represent a deep wound/hit on the xeno.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Makes combat more bloody.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Example:
-Marine shots xeno it hits but due to the xenos health no bleeding effect is triggered.
-Marine fires again and the hunter goes to x% heath which queues the bleeding effect.
-xeno bleeds but doesn't gain any debuffs or loses any additional health from the hit, just has the bleeding sprite follow them for X amount of time.
-Profit from bloody combat.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Coding and a small amount of spriting.
Fuppy and his grand idea wrote:Have it be set to a certain health % and last for [insert arbitrary number] seconds/until healed to a certain percentage. If blood trails became a tracking mechanic then you should have some form of control on whether or not risking the bleed is worth doing x, i.e a hunter deciding if pouncing that marine is worth the breadcrumb trail he may end up having if shot to half-hp or whatever.
- X amount of health that triggers the bleeding can be left up to the devs or if any of you fellows have ideas then feel free to say what you think at
which % health it should trigger.

It's actually cool since it isn't a DPS cuntass thing, but could fuck a hunter that is hunting and get rekt by a shot, then come back to the hive to get eggs and exposes everything with the trail.

On May 17, 2016, a group of farmers dug up the diary of an ear of corn named Watson. Here are his entries.

Day 76:
They took Lawrence, dear god Lawrence... They ripped him off the stalk and smeared him in butter, just like Tyler and Jodie. They shipped him off to the popcorn factory...
I wonder what his wife will say.

Day 120: My brother says the VEGANS are protesting for more anti-meat bullshit. They want more of us to die. FUCKING HEATHENS.

Day 153: The ants are eating me from the inside out. They are popping out my kernels and taking them back to the nest. I feel them moving inside me. Julia says the pesticides will end our misery.

Day 300: Sweet Release. I can hear the planes flying over now. They are dropping the gas, it feels so good, sweet release-

Then if you're bleeding, don't go directly back to the hive. Go someplace else, wait till the bleeding effect stops, THEN go back to the hive. Or just go to one of the hundred places with weeds outside the hive which you should have.
Also, +1. It would be nice to be able to track a bleeding xeno, and if they lead marines to the hive with their blood that's on them and not the bleeding mechanic.

Any autistic Young runner can lead an entire squad to the hive.

Instead of being RNG based wouldn't the better option to have it be set to a certain health % and last for [insert arbitrary number] seconds/until healed to a certain percentage? If blood trails became a tracking mechanic then you should have some form of control on whether or not risking the bleed is worth doing x, i.e a hunter deciding if pouncing that marine is worth the breadcrumb trail he may end up having if shot to half-hp or whatever. I can also imagine murrrines rushing a wounded looking empress only to find out in actuality she was rockin' a full HP bar or something.

Food for thought.

Probably better with your way I'll add it in for the implementation.

+1 then. I like the idea a lot more if it's fixed to a certain number instead of RNG.

Interesting idea.

One thing I would suggest is to add a sort of "bloody" sprite to a xeno mob that has less than 1/3rd of their health, this both shows that they are near crit and that they are bleeding.

I would honestly love to see this but it would mean each xeno would require a bloody sprite for standing and one for resting, meaning there would be loads of work to do. So I'm kind of unsure whether it'd be wise to have the bloody sprite.

Then again this suggestion also requires a load of work for a small gain: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=5651

Me thinks it would require six "blood sprite" sets.

One set for a standing xeno, one set for a resting xeno and one set for a crit xeno.

Repeat those three for the larger xenos.

That would require 18 unique sprites to be made. Well technically 24 but since you can just flip the East/West facing sprites around then those don't count.
