In-hand IV bag use.

Post by Derpislav » 25 Jan 2017, 06:22

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Make IV bags possible to use without a drip, but not on yourself. Both have to be immobile, attaching the IV is a timer-based action, and it has to remain in the hand of the medic to function. Doesn't have to be the active hand, but must be held. Additionally, make IV sets spawn in medic vendors and in medbay. It's just a syringe case, but renamed and holding three saline/"artificial blood" (this is the future, you know) bags.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): A realistic way to help blood loss victims, as opposed to stuffing them full of burritos or giving them iron pills.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Pretty simple, not much more to be said. If it can be easily coded, making it a requirement for the target to stay prone would be nice. (It would be nice if staying prone reduced blodloss too)

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Make IV bags function when held and clicked on a human.

+1 why not, they don't have to be on IV drip to function, IRL included.

All you need to do is just hold it in hand so the blood would flow.

+1 This would allow for more mobility instead of having to drag around an IV to deal with blood loss.

+1, I question every time I go combat medic why im stuffing burritos down people's throat considering this is the future and we have cryo bags, but not some way to transport blood in a mobile manner.

+1, there is not much I can add, but my satisfaction to someone suggesting this.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

+1 I want blood transfusions on the spot, and I want these medics to learn the value of blood.
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

Don't know what else to say, it'd be nice to have an IV so that when you're dragging a wounded marine back to the FOB you can hook him up with the other hand so he can get some much needed blood.

+1 This is what medics have to do in the field in real life too, or they hang it on a nearby object with elevation.

Please!

I already mentioned this in the "Post your Medical loadout" thread. You can't always trust Medical to always make Iron-Sugar Pills. IRL (cause muh immursion) Medics hold IVs and stay near the wounded to keep them stable. While we're on the topic of Blood. Can Medics also gain access to the Blood Vendors both Planetside & on the Almayer? kthx (:

+1. Blood loss is so prevalent now since murder is so prominent without hugger combat, this is kinda necessary for medics. Feedings blood loss victims food is kinda inconvenient, as is drawing blood from people with O- / compatible blood types.

Not needed, but would be more useful than lugging IV around to the FOB as medic.

Aside from the obvious benefits to marines, it adds a lot to the field medic aesthetic.

Can confirm. We use IV fluid bags, not actual blood, but serves a similar purpose.

For RP purposes I'd prefer THIS over the easier Sugar+Iron pills.

PLease, yes! Blood loss can be a real problem, especcially when marine loses arm/leg.
