Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): While ranting about baldies stealing all of the AP rounds in mchat, we came up with some solutions. If you're looking for realism, moving these dangerous AP rounds into requisitions and handing them out with attachments would allow everyone to have at least one AP round. If you're looking for roleplay, making the AP rounds cost money would make CL bribes much more interesting.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): People who are new to the game or disregard the wiki would be less of a burden to the rest of the marines.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Allowing everyone to have these limited AP rounds would cut down salt in more ways than one. In case you're not aware, marine armor protects really well against normal rounds. Upgrading from regular rounds to AP rounds turn a small bruise into fracture, organ damage, and internal bleeding (Even worse if the bullet pierces the brain or lungs). Making AP rounds more scarce to the people who rush weapon vendors would make said players use them more wisely, and reduce severe FF. (In simple terms, when the baldie that stole all of the AP rounds FFs, the victim, squad medics, and doctors won't have to suffer as much). In addition, limiting the number of AP rounds that a single marine can get allows for more marines to have AP rounds at the beginning. This allows for everyone to contribute to fending off armored enemies.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Move AP rounds to requisitions or make marines buy them with money. It really depends if you prefer gameplay or roleplay. Of course, keep vendor hacking in case an engi feels sneaky.

Re: Redistribute AP round accessability
Requisitions already extends into the messhall, this is just gonna push back briefing for another 10 minutes or cause 10x more arguments.
I feel like some better solutions would be smaller than this rather major one. Explain how AP rounds do less damage to smaller xenos on the tin, for the baldies, give M41A rounds a fancy name so that the nubs can't tell the difference.
Everything else is just FF which you've gotta deal with.

Re: Redistribute AP round accessability
I get what you're saying, but why do we have attachments in req? Marines would take them all if they had full access. It wouldn't add that much time for a marine to say "RDS, Charger, Machete, and M41A AP round plz." If baldies didn't exist, I would accept all FF as something that just happens. However, the mental absence of shooting a marine in the head at point blank with AP rounds is SUPER frustrating as a SM because you have to spend 3-15 minutes getting them out of crit and/or shipping them to medbay.NoahKirchner wrote:Requisitions already extends into the messhall, this is just gonna push back briefing for another 10 minutes or cause 10x more arguments.

edit:And as a SL, I can't tell you how many times I've told my squad to use standard rounds, only for at least 2 marines to tell me they only carry AP.

Re: Redistribute AP round accessability
The issue may not be for the marine requesting the supplies, that ain't too hard. Gimme this that the other thing and 3ap mags, the issue is with getting it, distributing it and distributing it equally as the RO or a CT. Getting attachments out of the vendor because byond is terrible aaa everyone panic already takes a little while as it is, adding AP to that with the hilariously slow and rude people in the req line is just gonna increase the amount of time needed before the marines can brief exponentially.Sidriel wrote:I get what you're saying, but why do we have attachments in req? Maybe not a lot for every one person, no, but when added together we're talking a few minutes at least.

Re: Redistribute AP round accessability
+1
If command wants a briefing at X time it's the marines duty to be there. FF is painful to watch, but when someone snatches every bit of AP ammo they can grab. Suddenly a baldly has over 15 clips of AP ammo and are either gonna get captured and killed, shoot up their allies, or waste most of it on hunters / runners. Giving it to cargo would also mean they'd have the ability to drop in crates of AP ammo later in the game. When you'll need it to deal with highly armored T3 aliens.

Re: Redistribute AP round accessability
I swear CoronelJones said AP rounds are more trash than regular rounds early game anyways. If you use AP, I know you're either an asshole, a veteran or a baldie. This'll make FF so much less lethal. Never forget when you're 5 minutes into the operation and have to go up to the sulaco because 'Johnny Flams' misclicked and SSD's when anyone confronts em. +1
