Commander Armor

Post by Steelpoint » 23 Apr 2017, 11:53

Summary: A very minor suggestion. Spawn a set of Commander M3 Armor + M10 Helmet in the Commander's room. This armor is identical to standard armor but it has a more golden appearance to it.

Benefits: One thing I've noticed in the rare instances where a Commander is in the field, and the far more common instances where the Commander is defending the Sulaco, is that if he puts armor on he is utterly unrecognisable from any Standard Marine. I recall one time as CL that no one realised that a Commander was leading a squad in defending the FoB until after the battle was won and I pointed that out.

Details: A simple color re-sprite of standard M3 armor.

Implementation: The armor can be spawned inside the Commanders personal locker. I don't believe this will result in Commander's wearing the armor 24/7 since that is not a case now.

I'd prefer it if it was a little stronger than the B12 armour and with just the basic B12 helmet, just reskinned, seeing as how the last thing you want is for your commander to get decapitated/hugged and dragged away.

I wouldnt mind doing something to make it more apparent that the unit is a commander- but gold is really unfitting.
Relax like Redax. "The fucking stupidest thing ever said by an SL"

Gold was just a off the cuff suggestion, the core of my suggestion is that the CO has some form of armour that helps him stand out.

My intention is not for a Commander armor to be any more powerful than a standard suit of armor.

I know lore wise and in real life you would usually not want higher ranking officers to look distinct from the standard rank and file, but I think we should waive that for the simple rule of cool and to help better identify the commander.

You just haven't looked for it.. I'll see if it can go in a more obvious place.

The commander has his own set of M56D armor in the armory, however it comes with no helmet. A helmet would be nice to see, stick a giant (C) on the back so people know who's boss.
