Alien Blunt Attacks
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): I was thinking about how, maybe, slashing could be reworked. At present, aliens either slash or impale marines in melee combat, regardless if it's restricted or not. This causes lacerations and bleeding damage, as well as blunt trauma. What if the restricted slashing was limited to headbutts, tailwhacks, and so on? This could be toggled manually for an alien as well. Or better, automatically used on facehugged/infected marines!
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): A non-lethal pain-crit for aliens to use on escaping marines or wounded survivors who just won't stay down and are causing lots of trouble. (Yes, there are sentinels, but they're not always around) I feel that a lot of the time when there are marines escaping, I see them be tackled AND SLASHED, so they die from the wounds. Some players forget to toggle intent, and if it were an automatic thing that may help. Maybe an option to manually switch it off, with it on by default?
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): I understand that spitters and sentinels have neurotoxin, so maybe this could be a bit weaker and cumulative...but other aliens jump in to help sometimes and make it harder on spitters. You could whack them enough and they'll get knocked out, but it could take a few blows depending on caste. There could be a risk for fractures or broken bones, but not bleeding.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): NO IDEA.
If my suggestion is confusing or alarming in any way, point it out and I'll try to clarify.

Re: Alien Blunt Attacks
...This...This is actually a good idea coming from a marine. I would love to be headbutted to pain crit instead of spat at. This wouldn't actually make sentinels any worse, it would just allow hunting castes to help hold hosts without slaughtering them.

THANK GOD, SOMEONE UNDERSTOOD MY FUCKSTORM. It would basically let other castes pitch in without accidentally murdering the marine because of how newbish and FORGETFUL they are.El Defaultio wrote:...This...This is actually a good idea coming from a marine. It would prevent accidental minging, I guess. And save marines from a premature death if they're infected.
That's the idea, so far.

I dunno man... Remember pain crit with spitters? It can get horribly tedious..

Non-lethal paincrit, its like being hit by halos damage (aka tazer, stunbaton)

I think we'll have to wait and see how the new Hugger rework system goes before we go on how to capture Humans as Aliens.

I know how you mean, but this brainstorm could turn out to be really helpful. Digestion is dangerous, and often overdone(the marine suffocates). This is another dragging option, beating them into submission as you hold on. Keeps you and them vulnerable, but it could be doable by any caste and is the most basic form of transportation that keeps the marine alive.Steelpoint wrote:I think we'll have to wait and see how the new Hugger rework system goes before we go on how to capture Humans as Aliens.

I don't know about this, I like the idea, but there is nothing more annoying than being put into paincrit in a nest, with no chance of dying, at least with slashing xenos are risking "They won't resist anymore, but they might die", but now it will be "We can paincrit ANYONE with no resistance!"

Re: Alien Blunt Attacks
Then this becomes a debate of what the default mindset for a captured soldier should be. Die fighting or die trying to escape. If a marine wants to put up a fight but still get a larva spawn, this helps those guys. If a marine doesn't want to go alien and wants to go out in a blaze of glory should they fail, this hurts those guys. Slashing down a running marine that's infected just seems like foul play to me, and should be reserved.TheMaskedMan2 wrote:I don't know about this, I like the idea, but there is nothing more annoying than being put into paincrit in a nest, with no chance of dying, at least with slashing xenos are risking "They won't resist anymore, but they might die", but now it will be "We can paincrit ANYONE with no resistance!"
