I think this would make sense in terms of Alien Lore. In a comic there were these workers that were infected with larvas, but due to some mutation in their body, the larva wouldn't burst out, and just stay in their body. And because these workers had larvas in their bodies, Xenos wouldn't attack them, making the workers practically invincible in some way.

I never understood that. Did the larvae develop at all? Did the workers die?

Basically, the larvas inside the workers, rather than developing and bursting out of their chest, would stay in a cryo-sleep-like state, meaning it would never burst out. The aliens didn't attack them and Facehuggers wouldn't jump at their faces.
