Firing range's target improvement

Post by Sarah_U. » 07 May 2017, 09:27

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
Add some sort of rail system to move around the practice targets inside firing range and possibly other attachable equipment.
(Optional): Add the possibility to build something to navigate practice target.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
This would improve the firing range from a static, sad and stale exercice, to a more indepth thing that could potentially test several level of performance within the players.
This could be nice in situations where the target is used as moving cover, making for quite the scene!
Generally speaking, it'd be a really nice addition and some existing code can already be used for that matter (Although still requires coding).

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
How this would work:
Any stake added to the rail will be moved by a tile once per seconds. The system push it to the next tile, where it's then directed to the next, and so on. It works like a conveyor, but only allows for certain items to be moved rather than all items on its tile.

(Optional) Construction:
You take a rail system, move it to the desired tile, add cables, wirecutter, wrench it, possibly weld it. (Could be shortened)

Adding/Removing targets:
Take a target stake, push it over to the rail, wrench it.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
[N/A] - [Conveyor code hint?]

PS: I know it's fluff and generally speaking.. Won't entirely affect the gameplay. But it could be used for a large variety of things like this so-called ghost training center that was talked before; Or even, events and the game itself! I just think it'd be nice to have around if some time can be put into it.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.
