Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Every building on big red has those storm shutters, which I rather enjoy. Though currently they always start "closed", and usually remain that way because either power isn't restored or marines don't want to open flanks (Despite the pros and cons of switching them a lot). My suggestion is that these shutters, at round start, are randomized in their "starting" position, being up or down, for some variation.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Variation on Big Red, these shutters can change the dynamic of the battlefield and I believe they should be used to better effect more often. By just randomly picking how they start, it will cause the pregame to develop differently as Xenos will wall off different areas, expand into buildings that are usually closed and ignored, survivors will act differently and be able to enter areas they typically wouldn't, etc. Marines may focus power more or not fortify a building because it started off being wide open now, they would be more of an "element" to the map.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Essentially at round start each building has a 50/50 chance of starting in the "open" or "closed" position of shutters. That is about it. I also would like if they weren't melt-able by weak acid but that's just me and unrelated to this suggestion, mostly just so they aren't so quickly rendered obsolete.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Mapping/Coding?

Interesting idea. I'm not against it, but I'll stick to neutral. Sounds good to me.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

Re: Storm Shutter Variation - Big Red
I realize it is a tiny little thing that doesn't exactly affect much, but I think it would create some nice variation from round to round. Not sure how difficult this would be to implement, but yeah.Sarah_U. wrote:Interesting idea. I'm not against it, but I'll stick to neutral. Sounds good to me.

Re: Storm Shutter Variation - Big Red
I'm neutral leaning towards -1. It will affect Xenos mostly though, because humans or survivors can just crowbar them open or shut early round when there's no power, so they get more freedom. The main reason for -1 is that it's frustrating having to run around and check every single storm shutter to make sure they are closed/open when you press the button, because it merely toggles them afaik. If pressing the button doesn't toggle, I'm in favor of +1 this suggestion. Otherwise I can see newer players or less experienced engineers get frustrated or view them as bugged, should this be implemented.
