Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):add underground tunnel portions to the ground map of lv-642, perhaps some vents and things too
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): adding tunnels accessible with ladders adds additional complexity to the colony defense portion of the game mode.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): i noticed that the almayer has multiple decks, and ice colony has multiple floors, and i thought that was really cool. so i think why not have that sort of mechanic present on lv too? you could move the colony's engi geothermal generators into the underground portion, have tunnels that connect to various basement storerooms of the colony domes and landing pads.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
if you are worried that crushers will tunnel a highway straight under your ass, you can handwave it away by making the stone down there super strong bedrock that they cant break.
if you are worried that the marines will have too great difficulty dealing with these additional tunnels, you can have all sorts of doors down there for them to weld shut, and stock the basement storerooms with extra wood and metal for them to choke the tunnels with if they want to, and perhaps make the ladders have hatches they can weld shut.
note that so long as you take care to limit these ladders and tunnels to the colony portion of the map, the fog will not be circumvented
i think that especially these tunnels and ladders will enhance the cat and mouse game of the survivors and the early tier aliens at the start of the match.
if the aliens neglect to control the tunnels, perhaps crafty marines will even be able to turn the tables on them.
just something to think about!

Keep this shit out of my Jungle. If you want to deal with ladder campers, you go play Ice. You leave LV-624 OUTTA THIS.

You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

I'm not a fan of ladders either, considering how easy it is to abuse them. Xenos's already have tunnels to sneak behind marine lines and marines really don't need more paths to the xenos with the new layout of the cave system.
What might be interesting would be completely isolated cellars under some of the domes, which serve no purpose beside hiding or hanging out in. Xeno's wouldn't be able to see you with thermal vision unless they bother looking down the ladder. Could create some fun RP moments where you hide under hydroponics with two injured praying the horde doesn't think about checking down there on their way to the nexus.

Player PM from player/(Larva (247)) (?): It's totally realistic to challenge someone to do boxing for a mouse trap, in the middle of a alien occupation.

Please no. Ice Colony is already cancerous with the underground portion. We don't need the classic jungle map to have underground bullshit...

+1 for UNCONNECTED, SMALL(7 by 7 at biggest) basements.Tharinoma wrote:I'm not a fan of ladders either, considering how easy it is to abuse them. Xenos's already have tunnels to sneak behind marine lines and marines really don't need more paths to the xenos with the new layout of the cave system.

Neutral, for a planet that is has a tropical climate the ground should be naturally wetter than others. It also is situated close by to a river, so building basements would be almost pointless due to the time, upkeep, and problems that would arise.
At the same time I do like ISOLATED underground rooms.
