Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): fire is hated by xenos in some of their media appearances, and the current properties of fire ingame are not quite reflective of this.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): makes fire more respectable a weapon and more feared an effect.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): i propose that xenos who are lit on fire have their vision "clouded over" or "shrunken" to a small spot around them for the duration of their time on fire(like what marines get when their eyes are damaged), to represent the pain that they hate fire for. this is not a "real" pain effect though, because unlike marines, the xenos wont slow down or pass out from it. so, as long as you dont panic and mentally remember your way back out to weeds/a safe place to stop drop and roll, you should be fine.
the media is somewhat inconsistent in the xeno vs fire debate, sometimes such as in the recent alien isolation, fire can successfully drive the creature off, and i can only think that pain would be the reason for it. but at other times in other media, fire and high temperatures seem to leave them mostly unaffected.
mostly, though, the incinerator is a mediocre weapon and this feels like a good way to give it a buff other than just upping fire's raw damage
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
make xenos "feel pain" from fire

Ehhh.... sure +1.
It'd work for making players panic, but if they don't, then it's just a nuisance.

You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

Re: make xenos "feel pain" from fire
This makes no sense lore wise. The xeno have a hive mind so even if one of their sights is restricted or completely cut off for some reason they would still be able to act just as good unless there are no other xeno with them and fire is usually used on groups of xeno.
This is another suggestion that while its reason is good, its implementation doesn't fit in.

This is how well the CM community understands the actual military.

the screen becoming clouded over is the only way i can think of representing pain thru the medium of the game. if you stick to just using the clouded over effect then it is up to the player's discretion whether they would like to keep fighting while on fire (the clouded vision makes it tougher to keep playing, but not impossible) or retreat to roll off and heal.

This doesn't make a lot of sense, at least in the desired goal. Being on fire is already a very serious and life-threatening injury to a Xeno, since you'll usually burn all the way into crit, as a result Xenos tend to run away pretty quickly when set alight
They don't need to be even MORE impaired by it

The amount of fire related deaths lately has been minimal. Xeno's aren't even burning into low health anymore, flamers seem to be bugged.dylanstrategie wrote:This doesn't make a lot of sense, at least in the desired goal. Usually if you flamer a low health xeno and they run off, if they get into crit without any pheremones around them they will die, even on weeds.caleeb101 wrote:The amount of fire related deaths lately has been minimal. Xeno's aren't even burning into low health anymore, flamers seem to be bugged.

I think I saw some instances where aliens (crusher) do not get lit on fire by flamers. There's something weird going on..

Re: make xenos "feel pain" from fire
i think ive seen some instances of humans and xenos alike walking thru fire tiles without suffering any ill effects i noticed, but im fairly new here and im not familiar with how your flamethrowers are exactly supposed to function. on the servers i do have experience with, though, it would be considered highly abnormal.
