Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):

The researcher should be able to create a 'cryo canister' which should be able to capture live eggs. (I'm really bad with names ok)

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):

This would increase the RP and enjoyment of the players . The researcher would have something to work towards. The liaison might be wanting to get a live specimen and as such, infect a monkey with it. (Maybe even a willing marine.)

(It might even be an antag option for the liaison, to steal it.)



Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):

The researcher should be able to make a 'cryo canister' out of dead xenos' bodies. This'd be acid proof hence why it would require dead xenomorphs to make. The researcher should have some ways of obtaining a hugger anyways, such as

-A) Handing it to a marine and hoping for the best.

The marine would have to find a live egg to be able to use it, however. This prevents it from being too common. He'd then have to encase it within the canister and that'd automatically cryo the egg, preventing it from opening and releasing the facehugger within. If the marine manages to open the egg itself before putting it within a cryo canister, it wouldn't work.

Now, onto the egg itself.

A) Once the egg is captured safely inside the canister, whoever would be using it could open it. It'd release the egg itself once thrown so the person opening it wouldn't get infected.

B) The egg would deploy on the tile the person is standing on once released, however, it'd take 10-15 seconds to fully exit it's cryo state. This'd allow anyone deploying it to get free of the area.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):

Lots of coding.

As pointed out by misto, I seem to have forgotten about any mechanical benefits. This is to help solve that.

-A) A higher chance of a PMC ERT which would also be tasked with rescuing the researcher.

-B) More cargo points.

-C) Bringing the xenomorph to an ERT shuttle via some new method of capturing it, which would later return with some fancy items/gear.

That's really all I can think of for now. I'll update it later, should I find anything else to change it with.

It would be really funny if an antag CL or researcher is stopped to be searched by an MP while carrying this. Pop it open and run away.

sounds pretty neato. naturally, i would also suggest there be solid mechanical benefits for such captures, such as boosted cargo points, friendly pmc call, etc

now, onto the monkeybursting aspect. of course this would be an amazing research opportunity not to be passed up and interactions with studying captive aliens make up significant portions of certain aliens material, but we have to keep in mind - unless you arrange for a chestburster made as a result of this to be some kind of npc, this is essentially a captive player character that cant even speak to you properly, unlike a brigged human. so where can you go from there? besides the obvious possibility of them killing you or you killing them. arrange for them to be sent off in a sort of escape pod to shady wy research zone as a precious live specimen, never to be seen again? how would you corral the beast into such a transport pod? i dont think tasers and stun batons do much to them
