Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): explosives crate comes with a jumble of mines and grenades. please split them into separate crates.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): more specificity, more efficiency
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
split it at least into a grenade crate and a mine crate.
sometimes you want grenades, but not mines
sometimes you want mines, but not grenades
you can further divide up the grenades if you want to (incendiary grenade crate vs fragmentation, for example)
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): remove the current crate and put in 2 new crates with separate contents
Separate explosives crate into at least 2 new crates

So what about the new prices and contents? Your suggestion as is doesn't actually have any benefits. Adding more crates for the sake of having more isn't a benefit in my mind..it could just be clutter.

Re: Separate explosives crate into at least 2 new crates
the new contents should be obvious, one crate has only some boxes of mines in it, the other crate only some grenades
the new prices are up for debate, but should probably be about the current price of the mixed explosives crate, perhaps slightly less

If you get the same number of mine boxes and the same number of grenades with the 2 crates..what's the point? For ease of use, one can just order the aptly named "Explosives" crate and distribute the contents as necessary. You get grenades AND mines! Both useful!

Re: Separate explosives crate into at least 2 new crates
I'm kinda liking it. I got some ideas on why the box could be improved for ME, but maybe not for everyone. I'm not sure, here's all I wrote on it.
I only order explosive crates for the nades so I have something to suicide with later when the xenos have me alone, in crit, and I'm about to lose the ability to even stand. I take two and leave the rest to whoever wants them. I never use mines, never care about them at all so for me they are a waste being in the explosives crate when instead of the four mines I could have maybe got two more grenades to hand out to the balds.
At the same time when I play cargo, almost no one ever asks me if I can send them nades. Most SL know better then to actually give marines grenades they wont use in a smart way. But I do get asked a lot actually if I can send down mines, and they usually want a lot of mines which requires a lot of explosives boxes which have pointless grenades in them in this situation.
I can get behind a mine crate that just has a bunch of mines in them. Might want to introduce a few new mine types to keep the box from just being a bunch of the same thing. Maybe a fire mine that has some red colour to it and works like an the incendiary grenade. Also maybe an Anti tank mine that is pretty easy to see but only triggers on big xeno like T3's and Queens? The crate could have 4 boxes of mines total, 2 normal, 1 fire, and 1 AT, for a price of maybe 40-50 points.

Don't forget about GL Specs, who could use their own ammo supply crate. I'd like also to divide Smartgun powerpacks and Sniper ammo crates, honestly.

it isnt clutter. it reduces clutter. buying only what you actually want to buy instead of what you want to buy and whatever else it is arbitrarily packaged with reduces clutter.doodeeda wrote:So what about the new prices and contents? also no, the "theyre both useful!" argument is not good enough. mines stop being useful at all once the almayer attack begins. if youre buying an explosives crate at that point in the game you have literally wasted points on useless mines. split the crate up. split the crate up.
