Make Red Dot Sights Better

Post by Daman453 » 27 Jun 2017, 14:50

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Red Dot's can now be used like a rail scope

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Provides use, might make too much of a balance

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Use rail scope, but much shorter, and if that's too OP, then lower the amount in RO's vender. Maybe put a red tint on the screen or some other debuff.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Use rail scope but much shorter.

-1 Completely unbalanced, the moderate increase to accuracy is more than enough.

Sorry but no. -1 We shouldn't buff guns like this, the rail scope has a massive advantage to it, but it still has drawbacks. RDS have no drawbacks whatsoever.

-1 Red dots are already a very strong attachment with no weaknesses (which they should be). Making them any better and giving them a downside would be silly. They are quite strong as is and in a very comfy spot.

What? RDS is the only attachment that has no debuffs. -1, it's a good as is.

hum hum

you know what would be a cool effect of rail scopes and rds? if they lowered your accuracy vs friendlies to make FF shots more likely to miss. kind of like a worse version of smartgun system, only not passing thru people entirely. representing your increased precision helping you pull your fire away from a friendly if the step into line of fire. of course, this raises the problem of how do you tell the game who is friendly or not when mutinies and inter-marine grudges are possible and thus who is friendly can rapidly shift

It's a scope, why not use it as a scope. To use a scope marines have to be:
-Standing still
-Not be moved
-have no marine in front of them
-not get flanked from behind
-not inside a object

You would say it's OP but if I get a rail scope and a grip and a stock I can maybe harass boilers. The shots all connecting doesn't matter when you are spitting on them. The marines need longer range guns. Marines should be best at range and killed at melee. Why have a gun if you can't see more then 10-20 tIles infront of you. I would love to see a test of a scope on a red dot sight just to see if it really is OP.

But they give you more accuracy without any drawbacks. That's pretty decent.

It doesn't mean anything if you can't see your target.

View range increase is MUCH more powerful than some people think. In a top-down game, being able to see way ahead of your normal view is invaluable. For this reason, any option to zoom ahead is carefully designed, especially if it allows you to shoot at the same time, thus "shooting from off-screen"

I'm fully positive the RDS won't get a view boost. It's already a straight upgrade in a way due to the simple accuracy buff and how plentiful they are, meaning they're easy to include in a loadout, like the forward grip

RDS is already good enough, no buffs please, just let it stay the way it perfectly is, it fits nicely
