+1 to the whole idea. I like the threshold check where the worst damage on a character trips a check and updates the sprite to that models damage. we wouldnt need to simulate every single cut and wound but maybe 3 to 4 states of the armor/ clothing would be nice. (normal, min., mod., heavy damage). unknown how that would effect the engine code wise, maybe a brute force way would be to add that whenever the heath HUD changes (green, yellow, orange, red) it permently updates the clothing sprite to that levels worth of damage as well. The silly thing i think it would cause would be a critical health character putting on a new set of clothes and then immeditly having the clothes be covered in blood. It would require more thought, but you guys are smart indeed.

"I've been thinking more about the difficulty of the lamp situation, you could just have it when the clothes reach the ragged stage the marine armour lamp is broken?" Or as Snipe said the lamp could have a 50/50 chance to be destroyed.

@lamp armor destruction: sounds cool, i like to paint with all the colors of the wind and what not, and you gotta have you darks to highlight your brights. If its possible to fit it in, it would be really great to have a squad slowly have its like be dimmed out, as they try to pass the flashlights and flares around or huddle around the last dude with a functional light in the pitch black dark. Im also thinking on whether or not it would be cool to have the lights be repairable? If the lights are unrepairable, it would make give a little more importance to have cargo to send spare armor down instead of just crates and crates of helmets ( it feels a little silly to stare at all these extra armor vests sitting in the vendor when your cargo head is screaming"i need more helmets!") on the other side of the coin, it would be nice for marines to take the time by themselves to pop off their armor for a few seconds, tinker with it a little bit, and maybe ducktape/ screwdriver a flashlight onto the armor for an adhoc light.

@Repairing armor lamp: I think it would be great if you needed to fix the lamp, perhaps eh.. taking out the broken light bulb and replacing it with a new bulb might be something interesting, even though I do agree with the fact that seeing a crate full of helmets is rather odd and doesn't really fit in, albeit I think that which ever way this goes (whether you need to ask requisitions to send down new armor or find a way to fix the lamp on the ground.) will be great.

okay small idea, maybe when the light is broken, you can fix it but it only illuminates 2 tiles instead of 3. gives incentive to get some spare armor pieces but if your in a jam, getting some light going is better than no light. maybe even 1 tile all around?

I think that is a great idea honestly as then spare marine armor which normally is never used will be.KingKire wrote:okay small idea, maybe when the light is broken, you can fix it but it only illuminates 2 tiles instead of 3. gives incentive to get some spare armor pieces but if your in a jam, getting some light going is better than no light. maybe even 1 tile all around?

-1 the devs will die implemeting half of your ideas) And game is not detailed enough to see all that "change" you want. I feel like clothing of marines is good as it is now. OOh yeah and dont mess with the lights that would be a new nerf to marines too.
