you could experiment with removing limb targeting for both sides, its not like it isnt nearly random what parts of the body get hit with gunfire already, and aliens dont seem to have removable limbs, or a sense of pain, just armor and health pool
although, maybe your medical and surgery systems depend on targeting? im not familiar with it

Re: Remove alien limb targetting
I liked idea about removing aiming for marines, becasue they are trained to shoot in center of mass anyway. BUT, I'd call that impossible, because marines, unlike xenos, have actual health system and simple removing targeting options will make impossible any medics/docs work, so this can't be done.misto wrote:you could experiment with removing limb targeting for both sides, its not like it isnt nearly random what parts of the body get hit with gunfire already, and aliens dont seem to have removable limbs, or a sense of pain, just armor and health pool

Re: Remove alien limb targetting
+1 Aliens may be intelligent, but lore-wise(if you go by alien lore) they are savage chimp-like(in intelligence) creatures. How would they have the skill or discipline to specifically target a limb. If anything, if they start attacking they would slash wildly. They're slashing should be randomly targeting everywhere. MAYBE they'd need a damage boost, but I think the random slashing should be tested first. This would promote an attempt at getting hosts rather than just tearing apart any marine they can.
Look, I've heard your cries, and your calls.
I know you're mad at Command. I know you're angry. I know you're angry that those dinosaurs killed your fellow men.
You told me this, and I heard you.
But you shouldn't be angry at your command. If you're angry at command, you're saying that command sent those men to die. But command didn't kill those men. The enemy killed those men. They took your comrades from you. That's the important thing to remember, it was the enemy who took your friends, and you should be really REALLY mad at them.
Before you go back down there, I'm reminding you who your enemy is. The enemy.

Re: Remove alien limb targetting
In Alien: Civil War, there were MULTIPLE panels where the warriors had attacked the Marines, using these very tactics. Dismemberment, decapitation, you name it. These Marines were wearing the X-13 series suits, which were made to resist facehuggers and stand up to the slashes of warriors themselves. One Marine was under the influence of xeno-zip, so what do the black xenomorphs do? They zerg rush him , and one warrior rips off his arm. 12 panels before that, the Marines land and hold off the warring Hives as they establish a safety bubble. Multiple are killed, with a couple of decapitations, and my oh my, what occurs? One Warrior rips the head of a Marine while the X-12 helmet was still attached.
And from a gameplay standpoint, absolutely, fucking, not. There are numerous cases where you'll be fucked over by this very mechanic, such as robotic limbs, or even acid spit. You know how Praes' acid spits are able to deal 30+ burn damage? Now you're going to have to constantly check for which limb was shot and frantically switch between supplies before you hit pain crit. Ravager slashes? Those are now going to fuck you over even more. Getting dismembered was rather easy back then, to the extent where it was survivable with proper meds. Now? The moment that happens, you're already dying.
So yeah.

You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.
