ERT leader choice popup Yes/No

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
An option when Emergency Response Team first spawns that asks each if they want to be leader, and then randomly gives out of who said yes - if no one picks then it's random out of anyone.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
This will mean people that don't want to be leader are less likely to be forced into it, and mean that hopefully the people that become ERT leader are more likely to act appropriately, with less clownish behavior like randomly running off in different directions as soon as they touch down.

It does however still have the possibility of no one in the group selecting lead and so a random person still being forced into there is another way THAT could be solved by also making the "Do you want to be ERT leader" a popup when first doing the IC > Join Response Team to be put in BEFORE the chance of spawning in: however this could lead to people saying they will be leader when they've got no intention of actually leading and just want to increase chances of being ERT - in that case there would need to be actual enforcement of ERT behaving in ways that command-level people shouldn't (like running off to planet on their own without the rest of the group)

I actually really like this suggestion. There's countless times where you'll see/experience someone who've just been placed with the leader role and rambo off without a word, or have no idea what they're doing. Anyways, +1.

The problem is that ERT leaders spawn with different gear than the rest of the squad

In a preference form, yes. It would be wise to have one player ready to take the role and to be competent with his job, maybe even RP a bit with the command staff.

If it's preference, +1, otherwise I'm against the idea of having a pop-up that uphold the ERT for an extended period of time AND reveals to deadchat what the ERT is pre-emptively. (No leaders in pizza and XRT).

Sidenote: Don't push down the preference list by inserting the option if possible. I had survivor at the queen's preference spot and it kept my old preference last time, so it could've picked me as queen if I wasn't careful. Otherwise, I'll be cautious

Yeah i'm not so big on the popup implementation but more so the idea of the leader choosing to be the leader, instead of more randoms that may legitimately just wanna be a boot and shoot things.

Someone necro'd this post, however it seems like a more preferable idea then just having how it is right now. TBH ERTs are pretty lame because how hardly you actually get to roleplay when you ARE an ERT, considering how circumstantial it is for an ERT to be called. +1 though.
