Concerning your reasoning, that's not how this works. A hugger stun will grant a ton of time for a xeno to safely wisk away a marine with no risk. The breakout never happens. A xeno won't be able to devour a conscious marine due to the time it takes for the devour it's self. Devour is an instant and permanent death for critted or otherwise incapacitated marines, whether it be by it's transport functionality or it's ability to make a xeno's stomach a black hole full of corpses, and even worse yet it's available to every caste. I support a strong grab, or something of the like to replace it. +1.

Just gonna note on this old topic, there is a exploit that allows you to essentially keep devouring even after you killed the marine, so you can eat them as you kill them, resulting in a dead marine in your stomach, essentially a longer version of gib

+1 Ayys cant even eat a live person in the shitty movies let alone the good one this is based off of. Strong Grab and being able to drag thru Tunnels and Vents.

People say you can kill xenos from the inside but by the time you're pregnant and stirring, RNG wakes you up just in time for you to be nested and you've already been regurgitated. I'm suprised nobody even mentioned tackle spam as well. That's enough to get most marines back to the hives alone. Then factor in that the majority of the aliens dragging you back will have some other stun method, whether that be neurotoxin or pouncing. I'd be in favour of a strong grab replacing devouring. It doesn't make sense that a puny human can break a xenos grip on them anyways so it would make things more accurate for both sides. Also, I might just be being stupid here but how do crushers grab you? They don't have anything to do it with except their mouth I guess.

Personally I like devouring, strong grabs make sense and would be more appropriate for Xenos to not let marines run away, but devouring is just fun and i'd be upset to see it go.

It's just one of those silly little things that make the server unique IMO. This might be less of an issue and more of a niche mechanic once hugger combat is removed.
