I'm surprised I missed this.
This is a great suggestion.
I more like the escape pod alteration, thus making using the escape pods more realistic and viable while not denying the Aliens their hard earned victory, as well as a way for Marines to escape and survive the massacre while still giving Aliens the full win.

I think the Aliens should have a means of disarming it by either hacking the nuke apart with T3s, or using acid to melt it before it detonates (both options would take quite a bit of time however), thus giving them an opportunity to avert the Marine victory if they find the nuke with plenty of time remaining; this could result in epic showdowns between the nuke's garrison and the alien forces.

i'm actually seeing a small problem here, This would be an alien nerf in the sense that aliens still have to kill all humans aboard the SULACO to win, nothing has changed but the time they have to prepare an assault and they have no retreat option unless im looking at how this mechanic works wrong?

That's wrong from what I'm reading.
If the Marines successfully get the Sulaco to escape and nuke the planet they don't automaticlly win, they still need to wipe out what remains of the Aliens onboard the Sulaco to win, and vice versa for the Aliens in that they need to wipe out the Humans on the Sulaco.
However the Humans can chose to use their escape pods on the Sulaco if the Aliens outnumber the Humans, any Humans escaping on the escape pods (which will leave within ten seconds after being activated in order) will count as dead towards the Aliens, meaning any Humans escaping will not block the Aliens from getting a major victory.
If the Humans blow up the planet the best they can hope for is a minor victory, the Aliens can still get a major victory.

That is correct, but a key part of this suggestion is admin aproval for the countdown. Marines can't use this whenever they want, it's only for situations when the aliens are significantly stronger than the marines, AND when it's set they get 20 minutes to get to the ship. Aliens only have to deal with this when they are already steamrolling the marines, and if they can't take the ship it's their own fault.

Using nuke kills Sulaco crew, that's why it actually is minor. We asked recently sergeantmuffin and he brought us screenshot of the end of nuking.Seehund wrote:

Again to reiterate how I think this would be a much more involved and better way to end the round if the Marines lose.
Its more thematic but also it puts pressure on the winning Aliens to commit to a assault instead of waiting to build up to a even higher and higher tier level of upgrades and numbers. It'll also make escape pods actually realistic and reliable instead of the inane waiting for the escape pods to fuel for 23 minutes.

As other folks have said, definitely seems like a sensible and lore-friendly way of advancing the round. The limitation of admin-approval means that marines can't just use it to cheese the xenos, and if it really is warranted than the forced assault on the Sulaco would be warranted anyway.

I would donate $20 if this suggestion was ever implemented.
Being serious I do think the most glaring problem with ACM right now are the Marine and Alien end games, and I do think this proposal may possible solve the Alien end game and make it more enjoyable but also quicker to end, and allow some Marines to possible survive the round.

With the sulaco remap, this should be possible. Doesn't affect alien victory if marines want to escape anyways currently.

Really good idea although implementation may be a bit difficult in terms of round end conditions , i think for this to work the sulaco redesign needs to happen because at the moment most sulaco defence rest around the escape pods and that needs to change. You would think the USMC would make a ship that is easy to defend in a boarding.

Well, reading this, I have to agree. It CAN result in stalemate when neither side wants to attack the other. +1
I would like to see at least some experimentation with this in the near future, even if not in the main server. I think it gives a nice incentive to the Aliens to prevent the round growing stale, as well as survivors holing up in a corner. Great idea, and well thought-out. Nothing much more I can say.
