Sulaco Engineering & EVA Should Have Hardsuits
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
Per Subject.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
Allows Engineering to actually effect repairs in hazardous environments, especially when admins are yelling at them to do so via their IC proxies.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
Per the Subject.
Engineering hardsuits are special and feature radiation immunity (or very high resistance) and especially high heat resistance; essentially a combination of the Atmos and Engineering hardsuit properties since Engineering on CM covers both of these things.
Also add a Hardsuit Crate to the RO Engineering supply list.
Badly needed; ridiculous that it doesn't already have them.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
Add Hardsuits to Sulaco Engineering and EVA.

+1 While the space suits are sufficient, they make replacing the Supermatter much harder, especially without magboots.

Not to mention they're essential in the case of phoron fires and temperature extremes, while they protect you from impacts when stuff flies at you due to sudden pressurization/depressurization.

Not necessarily. Perhaps the atmos hardsuits do but the engineering ones protect against rads.Surrealistik wrote:Not to mention they're essential in the case of phoron fires and temperature extremes, while they protect you from impacts when stuff flies at you due to sudden pressurization/depressurization.

Engineering and atmos hardsuits are essentially identical.

Re: Sulaco Engineering & EVA Should Have Hardsuits
No they aren't, at least in tg. Atmos stops fire 100%(you can even be on fire, unharmed), Engineering shields most of radiation, if you're given a dose of it by proximity to the SM or singularity.
I like the idea, myself. Also, we should replace the normal SS13 spacesuits with the Low-Pressure Hazard Suit from telecomms, it's much better sprited. (unless there's a gameplay difference, other than the lights)

Re: Sulaco Engineering & EVA Should Have Hardsuits
CM is based off of an old Baystation codebase as opposed to TG.
EDIT: Went through an older BS codebase; yep, looks like that holds up there as well; Engineering version has high (but not complete) radiation resistance. Atmos has higher (but not unlimited) heat resistance.
Seeing as Engineering on CM covers both Atmos and Engineering, the properties of those suits should probably be combined for those hardsuits in Engineering.

Mark 50 spacesuits with yellow stripes! Give the CE one with a orange stripe, and somehow more 'industrial-looking'.

Re: Sulaco Engineering & EVA Should Have Hardsuits
I really like the appearance of the standard Engineering hardsuit; looks plenty industrial to me with the brown/yellow colouration scheme that defines and is iconic of Engineering.

Eh, I'd rather have the engi hardsuit be changed to yellow/brown, instead of brown/orangey. Fits better with CM's engineering.

Isn't it brown/yellow? Haven't seen one in a long time; only half remember them from Power.

Re: Sulaco Engineering & EVA Should Have Hardsuits
Nope, it's 'brownrange'/brown, and I want it to be yellow/brown, fits in with engineering. Well, if the mk.50 spacesuit and tcomms pressure suit ideas don't go through, that is.

The first is how the engineering hardsuit is currently.
The second, is how the atmos one is supposed to be. (even though it never spawns in vanilla cm)
The third, is how I'd like the engineering one to look. I also agree with mixing the atmos/engi suit functions.

+1
I want a hardsuit.
Though, the firesuit with internals should be sufficient for ALL practical situations, short of entering a running burnchamber (And even then, it might be good).
