Ultimate Badass B18

Post by Toroic » 27 Aug 2016, 13:57

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):

Adding awesome features to make b18 more competitive and worthy of a specialist token

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):

B18 is cooler and competitive with a SADAR, and provides some different counters to xeno tactics.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):

Dossier: B18 Advanced Combat Chassis [Classified]

Development History

Features
► Show Spoiler
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):

B18 is now fully specialist worthy and gains a few additional UI buttons and features.

1) Instead of 2 tricord injectors the armor gains a tricord synthesizer that injects 5u with a cooldown between. On non-specialist it inflicts a 60u overdose

2) Armor functions as splints for hands, feet, arms and legs. If easier it could automatically count as splints, or a button added to auto-splint all limbs, causing additional fractures in non-specialists.

3) lockdown icon causes the armor to be essentially buckled in place, causing pounces to bonk, neurotox not to knock down, and a crusher charge to knockdown the crusher and the B18 user. B18 wouldn't be able to pull a locked down B18 in place, making it easier to rescue them if hugged.

4) Broken B18 helmets can be repaired with time and nanopaste, which is consumed in the process.

+1 for all suggestions except for the crusher knockdown. A crusher running at full force should fling the player the same as it would a xeno. Crushers at full speed, move with incredible force, and even if the B18 user was anchored to the ground, the ground beneath the user would be torn right up.

Add on: I can see the nano-paste repairs being seriously abused with the B18 armor user bringing an entire bag of nano-paste.
I'm stressing way too hard about what to put here, so I'm just gonna leave it blank.... or....

Idea being that they'd be treated same as turrets are. They both are anchored and both are knocked down. B18 unanchored would still go flying and probably get a broken chest from the full speed ram even while anchored.

If someone wanted to make a bag of nano specifically for a B18, and the B18 is able to avoid being hugged/slashed to death, then I say that's fair. They'll typically get stunlocked and killed the moment the helmet comes off. None of the functions would work while knocked down or unconscious.

As a xeno, I find b18 to be really easy to defeat compared to a SADAR, and they tend to get dunked without accomplishing much.

I'd be totally ok with a b18 marine sucker punching a crusher and sending it flying into the dirt.

"Developed as part of a failed supersoldier program, the B18 ACC still sees use in the USCM despite being too heavy for unenhanced humans."

SPESS MUHREEEEEENS! (The genetically enhanced defenders of mankind, not the bred-from-monkey wimps that we have currently.)

Anyways. It would add more depth to an otherwise bland piece of material, instead of it just being good armour. It's still good armour, but now you can actually become a wall.

And who doesn't want to be an almost literal wall of monkeymuscle and metal, that can heal themselves AND use guns at the same time!
Also armour repair using an almost never used item in the game. Good things all around!

+1.

I've seen Harry Cowper (Interrolouis) holding off the entire hive with a standard B18 and SADAR more than once. I vote that some of the user's slots are removed to prevent item hoarding-
Secondary sniper, backpack full of rockets, machete on suit, secondary SADAR (?!), etc. Otherwise Harry is gonna turn himself into a landmower.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

+1, but lower the tricord inject to 5u. 20u straight up will last for a long time, and probably make a cooldown meaningless. Limited regen, not constant healing, right?

I was thinking about making proper combat suits for marines as a new specialization choice, although my idea was more a rip-off of the Starcraft II Firebats and marauders.

On topic, I do find this idea quite dandy. This might be the closest a marine will ever get to having a combat mech, and I'd love to try such a thing out for myself if this gets implemented.

+1 I'll finally be able to live my dreams of being the tank, without just getting knocked over and facehugger spammed until my armour means nothing anymore and I go cry in the corner over my poor decision.

+1 I love B18 armor as it is, even though the SADAR is far more fun and more successful I enjoy taking 30+ hits from hunters before I die. With the splints and stuff It would just be amazing cause broken legs with B18 is the bane of my existence.

Can the suit have an inbuilt chest-machinegun in the lockdown mode?

+1 from me.
Lore wise, 150lbs is pretty light for a massive suit of titanium and such, but i'd have to see more experienced people way in on that. (i know that ive worn my fair share of 60 lb packs, and im an average/slightly below strength dude.)

I think overall, this suggestion is a pretty fun dance with the B18, giving it less "armor with fancy plates" and more "experimental super armor" feel. Having the suit have a silly high chance to kill anyone who wasnt familiar with it is just great.

I like that Nanopaste is a repair for the helmet, but that it takes time to repair. possibly 15ish seconds of not moving, or maybe three 5-second applications of nano paste.
This also doesn't make resin paste obsolete.
I feel that gives B18's the ability to keep going on the field, as a defensive but economical choice for most specialists.
It'd have to be seen if this is just right or too much for the b18.
Gaze upon me,
for I have wandered deep into the ancient tombs of knowledge to which lie madness and sorrow, cleansing a path for all those who walk behind me...

...

But seriously, does uh, anyone know the way out?!

~Furthermore, I consider that Floodlights should no longer be destroyed.~

150 lbs is quite a bit when you consider it's before all the gear, which can easily push the total weight over 200 lbs.

Moving with 200 lbs on your back is pretty difficult to maintain for long periods. With the advent of resin paste we could probably just have the helmets be repaired with it, as I assume they are already.

Thanks for the support!
