Bargaining power: Give the corporate liaison the ability to order W-Y supplies
Summary
The CL gets the ability to order unique supplies. He is encouraged to make the provision of these supplies conditional.
Benefits
Gives the crew a reason to listen to the CL. Gives the CL bargaining power to accomplish his goals.
Details
Right now, nobody on the Sulaco has a reason to listen to, much less trust the CL. He may give annoying requests, he may attempt to outright sabotage the operation. Either way, he frequently ends up being ignored completely, and needs to be actively humored to have any influence on marine operations.
But the CL is not part of the marine command structure, and does not have to navigate the USMC's bureaucratic logistics system. Being an agent of Weyland-Yutani, he can requisition supplies directly from corporate storehouses, or from underground markets. Think supplies not normally available to the USMC: Experimental weapons, ammunition and armor, revolutionary medical treatments, powerful but oh-so-addictive performance-enhancing drugs.
Nothing comes for free, of course. W-Y does not give the USMC expensive drugs and equipment out of pure goodwill. The CL chooses to orders these supplies if his conditions are met. He can make their provision contingent on the retrieval of something W-Y wants from the colony, like the contents of secure storage, or the corgi. Or he can happily provide a trickle of supplies so long as no W-Y property is damaged.
Either way, the CL now has a carrot to dangle in front of the marines, and the marines now have a reason to listen to him.
Implementation
The CL orders the supplies from a terminal in his office, using a system similar to the RO's. Supplies are delivered to the cargo bay via a seperate, smaller shuttle. CLs are expected to use the (potential) supplies as a bargaining chip.

I think this would be pretty great as the Cl really needs some love due to how they are currently only there for fluff and the odd event run by a staff member.

Love that idea! I play CL a lot, and though you can use cash from the ATM, I think tangible military and pharmaceutical goods would work much better.

Re: Bargaining power: Give the corporate liaison the ability to order W-Y supplies
This would just encourage USCM sided Liasons to order all the supplies they can.
Not to mention the entire crew of the Sulaco will pressure him into ordering those supplies.
Another problem arises when he orders supplies and a ERT is called.
Too many problems can be a result of this. Just request supplies when someone who can send it is on (Feweh).

Just give him/her very limited points. Not enough to shift the balance, but enough to have a few marines in his/her pocket.Warnipple wrote:This would just encourage USCM sided Liasons to order all the supplies they can.

I'm all for giving the CL more power. +1
Have it start with limited points, but give the CL a scanner or something for important items from the colony to increase the point reserves.

That works. Give's the CL automatic objectives, with rewards to give marines for completing said objective. Better then staying in the office drunk, or the temptation to antag. CL needs something default to do.Nick123q23 wrote:I'm all for giving the CL more power. +1

Excellent idea to make CL great again! Bet it wont hurt the balance if CL will be able to order few packs of improved standard weaponry like M41C, M41AE2 Pulse Rifle, Automag pistols and so on, +1

Just to let CL's have a little bit of something to do when Admins aren't running an event. CL is entirely an RP role, but when most of the crew just wants to ignore you it'd be nice to have something like this as a catalyst. Nothing crazy to make them a mini RO or game changing, but enough to just have a few little neat things, enough to make one or two marines their personal toadies or hoard it for themselves.

I support this, it gives the CL more power gameplay wise allowing them to reward their marine supporters with special supplies, allows the staff to reward the CL with points for supplies as opposed to allowing the CL to self-antag etc... If done right I really do think this system could make some great RP, and make the role of CL more enjoyable for the player.
