POLLS: On Stunlocking
Figured I'd get the community's opinion on this:
POLL: Is Stunlocking Fun: https://goo.gl/i2Vsfz
POLL: Should Stunlocking Be Reduced/Removed: https://goo.gl/V267Nt
Also if you want your vote to actually be counted you really should post your votes in this thread.

Stunlocking fun? Yes, when you're the xeno.
Should Stunlocking be Reduced/Removed? Yes. Absolutely

Re: POLLS: On Stunlocking
Also vote here so your voice is given weight; my vote:
Is Stunlocking Fun? No. Whether as Xeno (lol, get locked by grenades scro), or Marine (lol, get locked by Screech/Neuro/Pounce/Crusher tackle scro). Robbing players of the ability to play the game and affect outcomes is almost never a good idea in terms of game design when it's easy to do (yes, killing robs a player of agency; it's significantly more difficult to do than simply clicking on a sprite however in most cases), nevermind making destruction of player agency central to gameplay as it currently is. In general, if there's an alternative that doesn't destroy agency (slows/partial disables/punishment mechanics for doing certain things, etc), you should roll with that instead.
Should Stunlocking Be Reduced/Removed? Reduced. Stunlocks that involve multiple Xenos are fine. Stunlocks should be very difficult to pull off and sustain for any appreciable period of time for one Xeno (and nevermind Xenos being able to juggle multiple stunlocks ala Praetorians/upgraded Spitters). I personally favour a system of diminishing returns: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=9556

I'm hesitant to say that stunlocking should be replaced on the notion that I fear something worse will replace it.

I highly doubt the devs would cook up something more cancerous than being held in place by spam or a knockdown effect leaving you completely open to FF,huggers(if not already) and slashing.Bullets if your a xeno.Telegnats wrote:I'm hesitant to say that stunlocking should be replaced on the notion that I fear something worse will replace it.

This is usually stuff the Dev team discusses or tries to bring up.
Please don't try to use votes to force us to do things, it didn't work out for anyone involved last time.

Not trying to force anything; just trying to illustrate the popularity, or lackthereof, of stunlocking, and whether or not it's good for the game on the basis of player enjoyment/preference.apophis775 wrote:This is usually stuff the Dev team discusses or tries to bring up.

Re: POLLS: On Stunlocking
Stun combat is basically a staple of both sides that would need a major overhaul to correct.
Marines have their stuns and xenos have their own.
Vote wont do much

Re: POLLS: On Stunlocking
Like 20 people have total voted. Out of the nearly 1 thousand unqiue logins per week.
I don't see this doing anything, other than rustling jimmies.
Also, funny how over half the yes votes, come from nearly the same place in the UK.
Many from hyde Park, near the Us Embassy and Diana Memorial Playground.

Re: POLLS: On Stunlocking
Poll isn't even a day old.
Also keep in mind that smaller numbers of players can be representative; as long as the overall sentiment reigns after the extremes of the margin of error are computed vs the alternative, then it's meaningful:

If you want votes to actually be counted, it would need to be a poll created here. Many third party sites are VERY easy to manipulate.

Re: POLLS: On Stunlocking
Thing is, its SS13. Stun Combat reigns supreme in SS13.
I vote No. Stunlocking is not awful and terrible, and is needed.
Why? Because its hard enough at times to drag a facehugged marine back to the hive, let alone a stunned marine. What with the fact that marines are usually in packs of 5+, shoot to pieces any xenos doing dragging where 2-3 hits is enough to crit most xenos, and a marine just has to run the button to run away in another direction, while drawing one of the nineteen guns in his vest/holster/backpack/suit storage and shoot the xenos coming at him.
If you want to get rid of stunlocking, we would need to give the xenos some other means of keeping marines from just running away. Hey I know, in lore, once a xenos grabs you, and you drop your gun, there is no getting away. There arms are stronger than ours. So how about no breaking grasp once a xenos has grabbed and started to drag you?
Yeah no. -1 Vote, but I expect all the salty marines to come in and vote to remove stunlocking. They'd remove facehuggers and pouncing too if they could.

Re: POLLS: On Stunlocking
This is kinda a shamy post filled with opinion and drips with salt.
Being on the receiving end of a stun-lock isn't fun, of course, but the xenos have stuns while the marines have damage. It's not that cut and dry, but that's what it comes down to.

I'm stressing way too hard about what to put here, so I'm just gonna leave it blank.... or....

Re: POLLS: On Stunlocking
If marines had their way, xenos would lose EERY round with no chance. If xenos had their way, marines would lose EERY round with no chance. Remember people, a good compromise leaves both parties angry

The vote manipulation is REAL. Look at those clusters.
