Is it okay to kill monkeys as a survivor?

Post by Dogar » 20 Dec 2016, 06:20

Rolled a survivor on a round today. After I barricaded myself in science and killed the monkeys, Jackie Estegado sent me a message, saying that not killing monkeys is one of the "unwritten rules" on the server. Can any of the other staff confirm this?

Its actually in question right now, given the lowpop situation we decided that killing monkeys wasn't allowed. Its currently one of those "eeeeh sure you can but its frowned upon and you may be told to stop." I'll repost something similar in the staff section for a rule change.

Unwritten rule. Killing ONE monkey, or a few is fine, but try not to cripple the ayys by removing half the monkey pop.

Honestly I think survivors can kill monkeys, because they know about aliens and they would try to damage aliens as much as they can without risking. Killing monkeys - easiest and logical way to harm aliens.

And if survivor goes on killing spree on monkeys on whole planet, he is risking to get captured/killed himself. And if aliens can't stop him until he kill ALL monkeys on level, well, such bad aliens should be punished anyway.

Marines, on he other hand, shouldn't usually get distracted by small harmless animals.

According to the rules it's fine to kill them, but hunting them down is just a fucking cunt move. And don't try that shit on lowpop, rounds go for short enough as it is, xeno don't need you survivors being pricks like that.

Just kill them all at round start, everyone does it.

At worst you'll get a 'stern talking to' from an admin, and then a wink as marines secure another easy win.
Your daily reminder that this server is utterly shit for balance, and the hack Apop is intent on keeping it that way.

Yeah no, fuck off with that shit, people wonder why admins keep buffing xeno.

You will be banned for this shitty behaviour.
It is the very definition of power-gaming.

If this continues to be an issue, will simply start xenos off with a boat-load of larva.

Stop being shitty.

Going out of your way to kill monkeys as a survivor, regardless of self preservation, is stupid. However, killing a coupla lab monkeys while shacked up in science isn't power-gamey at all, since survivors are behaving in a way that's consistent with what they know, especially if you start as a scientist survivor.

Going on a rampage killing all the monkeys is something a survivor won't do since he will end nested all the times. But, by example, if you ran across one and kill it; that's something acceptable. But again, it's all about the powergaming, if the map spawns 15 monkeys you can't kill 5, up to two monkeys is acceptable.
