- Not fun for xenos.
- It creates a metagame of who knows better which sprites can hide a claymore.
- The only way to find them is right-clicking the tiles. But right-clicking freezes my screen every time.
- When I play marine I want to fight against swarms of smaller xenos like in the movie. That means hunters and runners with a couple T3 mixed in. But when there are mines, I got only stomps and acid gases.
- It's all about xenos have a crusher or not. It doesn't matter if xenos have 20 T2 and 2 elite ravager. If no crusher, you can't assault a mined fortress. You can say that it's similar to no engineers then no lights or no medics then noone heals. But engineers and medics are in the back line. Crusher is always on the front risking her life.

I fucking love mines, because it's a tactical tool, more than anything else. It's amazing for covering a retreat, and helps defend the flanks and rear.
Mind you, I never play Xenos.

I like mines solely because it lets alien feel what wallhuggers were like.

I like it because it stops runners from doing the hugger drop and run tactic bullshit and can provide area denial.
too bad 1 crusher is all you need to wipe out all the mines.

Re: What's your opinion of claymores?
I think mines are fair and balanced.as for your points
1.pretty much what Jeser said
2.apop has said before he wants marines to hide mines(look at the one about hiding mines under walls)
3.the only way to find them is by knowing what they fit under and if you see one of those things get a crusher to run over it
4.wrong,unless cargo is super good there's no way every bit of the FOB is gonna be mined well enough that nothing can get through bar a crusher
5.wrong again, medics rush to heal people who can't make it back behind the lines, engineers have to build cover for marines(decent engineers do that anyway).

Re: What's your opinion of claymores?
I love em! As a crusher, claymores allow me to blow up anyone stupid enough to stand close by them and then dance in their faces to remind them of their failure.
As a marine, claymores are annoying to use. I can't drag xeno corpses back to the pod/rasp, one misplaced ID is enough to kill me, I'm not immune to the detonation, and there's always a matter of me having to hide them from the xenos (yes, that is VERY stupid.)

You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

Re: What's your opinion of claymores?
You can literally SLASH mines and them won't hit you, just see which direction they were placed, it's easy mate. IF a sprite is hiding it a lot, ALT click the tile, then you can interact with it
On May 17, 2016, a group of farmers dug up the diary of an ear of corn named Watson. Here are his entries.
Day 76:
They took Lawrence, dear god Lawrence... They ripped him off the stalk and smeared him in butter, just like Tyler and Jodie. They shipped him off to the popcorn factory...
I wonder what his wife will say.
Day 120: My brother says the VEGANS are protesting for more anti-meat bullshit. They want more of us to die. FUCKING HEATHENS.
Day 153: The ants are eating me from the inside out. They are popping out my kernels and taking them back to the nest. I feel them moving inside me. Julia says the pesticides will end our misery.
Day 300: Sweet Release. I can hear the planes flying over now. They are dropping the gas, it feels so good, sweet release-

I tried slashing and they instantly exploded. It was with ancient runner, I couldn't move a single tile before the explosion. The stun was much shorter though. I can't alt-click because I don't know if I am going from the wrong direction until I see it plus marines are nearby and shoot me.

Re: What's your opinion of claymores?
As a person who both plays xeno and marine, I think mines are a good way to defend lesser traveled areas and scare away ramboing aliens.
The problem with them is that most people don't really put much thought into their placement, instead just spamming them in the worst places and not even bothering to try and hide them, making it easy for xenos to just walk around them, or exploit them against the marines (like a crusher timing his charge over a mine to fuck over a few marines in the blast).
When the RO ships down dozens and dozens of mines, most of the time those mines all go to waste because people just spam them in small areas without any attempt to cover them up, rather than spreading them out and covering them in a way that makes it hard to determine if a place is safe or not. So yes, while it sucks to get killed by a mine, most of the time they aren't too hard to spot, and you can easily avoid them even if you lack a crusher.

Of all the castes, runners are the weakest to landmines.Szunti wrote:I tried slashing and they instantly exploded. It was with ancient runner, I couldn't move a single tile before the explosion. I seen mature hunters and spitters survive landmines and flee while under fire, and in one case I recall a round where an elite hunter was jumping on mines on purpose to disarm them, using his higher health pool to his advantage.
If you are gonna disarm a mine, let anyone else but a runner do it, because even elder runners are too weak to handle the explosion.

Fort arrogance was a good example of tactical mine placements

Handle well if you got the strength to carry one, although they're mostly useless in confined quarters.

Re: What's your opinion of claymores?
Their presence while useful isn't very gamechanging. The majority of mine kills are runners and the rest of xenos should survive though wounded. Its usefulness comes from stunning aliens so marines can focus fire onto them. Even then, xenos are quite adept at covering and pulling each other from the line of fire or the marines can't do enough damage to put the alien down.
I disagree on medics and engineers being in the back. It is more reliable to stay in the front to heal and pull people from harm as medics. Engineers are needed to make cover from the acid and gas, advance their turret so marines have support, block off ways enemies can flank, and create ways so marines can flank.

Re: What's your opinion of claymores?
Fort Arrogance is a good example of why xenos should learn to look for mines, or at least EXPECT them to be planted near a heavily fortified area, especially after three of their sisters literally just died to mines in the same area.
I presumed people would've either complained or gotten a bit more intelligent after that round.
