So What's The Deal With Flamethrowers?
I've been testing out the new Flamethrowers and find that going with this loadout works well:
Rail Flashed Flamer
Backpack FULL of tanks, only keep 4 for yourself though, hand out others as necessary, and DON'T BE AFRAID TO FIRE-SPAM, it costs dick all.
Firesuit w/ Fire Extinguisher in suit slot
Various meds in pockets/belt
Don't wear the fire helmet, pack a normal one.
With this loadout you can heal yourself should you step on a fire tile, anybody ELSE that steps on a firetile, and you can handle LITERALLY ANYTHING short of Ravs and Queens.
Unsure if this is breaking Marine Law, powergaming or whatfor, but it's my way of playing as the Pyro Specialist Apop approved so long ago.
One concern regarding said Pyro class, the Firesuit lacks any kind of armour, if you guys plan on keeping this as is and not adding an Armoured Firesuit, I get that, or if it's going to be put in with said Pyro class. But I just want to know more about the current state of Flamethrowers.
This thread is just to find out of it's Meta/Powergaming/Breaking Marine Law, and any further information that can be handed out in regards to the future of Flamethrowers.

In-theory you can be arrested for wearing the flamesuit by Mp's as it's not proper marine uniform.
What I like taking is just standard armour with a magged flamethrower and a backpack with flares, flame tanks and ammo to distribute to others.

No longer theory, this has been verified as breaking Marine Law, it's not regarded as 'Standard Uniform'.TopHatPenguin wrote:In-theory you can be arrested for wearing the flamesuit by Mp's as it's not proper marine uniform.

Its fine
Just the downside to this is having no armor at all, its to stop you from soloing entire hives as you still need to stay with other marines.

Did devs fix the fact that once you spray down fire, it lasts forever?
Not sure since I haven't been on after they cucked the alien team on Ice by camping firestacks that never disappeared until a dev finally admin cleaned them.

Just to clarify, its fine to wear a firesuit rule wise, but IC you could be arrested as its not an acceptable uniform to wear for combat.

Using meds while not being a medic may be powergaming...

Pretty sure autoinjectors and ointment / gauze is alright, but advanced kits are a no no, same with splints(?).Tristan63 wrote:As long as it isn't advanced or autoinjector I think you're safe
Considering auto injectors are, as said, just injectors with chems in them I assume you can use the tricord ones that come in wall mounted nano meds alongside the ointment and gauze.

I myself normally use the flame thrower for fast weed clearing rather than killin, since it is a lot easier to avoid than bullets... But when you wanna clear out huge chunks of weeds in a short span of time and also briefly light the place up while you are at it, it is a kinda nice tool to have.
Sometimes, bravery comes from the most unlikely sources.
