FOB locations
Mainly for some time post LZ2 change it's just been nexus that is mostly the FOB nowadays,LZ2 if we got one XO who want to change it sometimes. But it's just been ONE location that officers always pick no matter what. I honestly rather have some designated FOB's be assigned by the higher ups (USCM) to give officers a bit more variety in what locations they use to give engis and marines somewhere else to defend than NEXUS on LV and LZ on ICE COLONY.

Re: FOB locations
honestly I don't see why LZ2 was moved at all, it added some verity when it was near power, now its rarely used because there's no to use it other than not having all 4 squads on the rasp round start or a quick way down if they really need reinforcements.

Re: FOB locations
Thats why I don't like the change it. At first I thought it was gonna be used more since it's near robotics and IA two buildings to do two different things in. But now it's Nexus, nexus and more nexus. Boring as shit to go to the fob locations again and againJoe4444 wrote:honestly I don't see why LZ2 was moved at all, it added some verity when it was near power, now its rarely used because there's no to use it other than not having all 4 squads on the rasp round start or a quick way down if they really need reinforcements.

Re: FOB locations
To be honest, the main reason why they moved LZ2 was because NO ONE wanted to use Nexus anymore after people realized how much more effective an FoB at Tcomms was.
It got so bad that they had to buff the Nexus to encourage marines to use it, as well as move the landing zone to be less effective.
As for a change of FoB location, I myself wish I could do it when I go commander, but due to the common marine's comfort zone, the moment you suggest an area other than the meta, they all freak out and either refuse to do it, or fumble it due to being forced to do something they normally wouldn't do, all the while calling the CO a baldie. They are like autistic folk, when you think about it: Change makes them very uncomfortable.

Re: FOB locations
This is very true to be honest marines will start freaking out at any moment if they're outside of their comfort zone and I don't believe there's really any better FOB's in general compared to nexus now maybe robotics but eh.... since LZ2 has been moved there's no real use.Renomaki wrote:To be honest, the main reason why they moved LZ2 was because NO ONE wanted to use Nexus anymore after people realized how much more effective an FoB at Tcomms was.

Re: FOB locations
The problem is, if you make an FOB nowhere near LZ1, you lose.
Simply put, xenos will go around your FOB and take over Rasp, and now your FOB is completely useless as Sulaco is under attack.
If my suggestion of having at LEAST 75% of humans having to be dead / on Sulaco for Xenos to be able to use the LZ1 console was approved, you'd see a lot more variety in FOB's.
Until then, don't even bother making a heavily fortified FOB anywhere but Nexus / LZ1.

Re: FOB locations
This literally got the marines killed when you assumed it was a good idea to send down Alpha and Bravo to set up the power and comms, the xenos had FIVE RAVAGERS, THREE CRUSHERS WITH NO DEATHS, TWO BOILERS, and altogether TWENTY SIX XENOS. Case in point, LZ2 is too small transporting and too open for defending with a given amount of time. The ravagers that round had enough darkness to surprise charge and most of the 2 squads were overwhelmed with the 3 aforementioned T3s to the extent we couldn't do shit.Recounted wrote:Makes alot of sense when I tell marines that LZ2 will be main transport
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

Re: FOB locations
I agree with this 100%. The LZ meta is just so ingrained into the marines that anything else seems alien in a way.Deathjack69 wrote:This is very true to be honest marines will start freaking out at any moment if they're outside of their comfort zone and I don't believe there's really any better FOB's in general compared to nexus now maybe robotics but eh.... since LZ2 has been moved there's no real use.

this is, again, for very good reasonzskninoh wrote:I agree with this 100%. The LZ meta is just so ingrained into the marines that anything else seems alien in a way.
LZ1 used to be taken by xenos and would land in hangar from my understanding
now if xenos take LZ1 they can crash into sulaco
hence, you HAVE to have your main FOB at LZ1 or your cut off from supplies + medevac
but the most important part is your giving the xenos a clear win since they can breach, then breach again with the pod when marines inevitably come up and get boiler'd in the tight confines of the pod (this is assuming xeno team is competent).

Re: FOB locations
The general idea is to have the FOB closest to the Rasputin, this is intended.
Surprise surprise, this is exactly where the FOB would most likely be in real life as well.

Re: FOB locations
Gee crab I didn't know the fucking xenos would have 5 RAVS AND 3 CRUSHERS.Honestly expect me to know these numbers? NO if I did I would have done shit the meta marine way since they really went for 5 RAVS and 3 CRUSHERS. Fuck man get off my ass about that, I wouldn't have known the xenos had those kinds of forcesCrab_Spider wrote:This literally got the marines killed when you assumed it was a good idea to send down Alpha and Bravo to set up the power and comms, the xenos had FIVE RAVAGERS, THREE CRUSHERS WITH NO DEATHS, TWO BOILERS, and altogether TWENTY SIX XENOS.
