Ah... Corroders, fresh from my mind as when they were first spawned. They had spit accuracy unlike ancient spitters or sentinels. You could directly hit anyone as long as they are between you and your corrosive acid's trajectory path.

Oh how the marines would dance in agony and writhe in pain as the acid corrodes their armor first, Yes, it's always the armor, then once the armor's gone, it would corrode the uniform.

The uniform... the only thing that's protecting the skin. Once it goes to the skin, there was no way to save a human from becoming bone-y, just like how dogs love it. Their skin would melt, their faces, pale-white, like snow, their bodies writhed like old worn roses.

That was the time of corroders...

When marines would quickly take off a corroded armor, and proceed to fight without protection.

When marines would leap and take off their uniforms in a hurry, fighting butt-naked.
Death, is just another part of life.

You guys forgot to mention that instead of the Sentry guns we have today, we had to pull manual gun emplacements with blockers/barricades in the front. One guy would gun the emplacement, another would be the guy who'll shake him up.

It had a bug where even if you were knocked down, you could still shoot the emplacement.

Everyone would watch their fire, misfiring could still cause a breach, even if the glass were reinforced.

Necromorph event, hehe.

The times when Xenos would wander off into space, trying to randomly hit the Sulaco and then breach in.

OH the good old days where if you wanted to have a shotty, they weren't stacked. Back when you had to load each slug one by one literally click 1 slug then another, having to have a limited space for em. Thats why you kept a few SMGs in yer bag.

And we had a borer cult one or two times. Best round was when they got Command and the MPs, then the Marines noticed they were being dragged off, starting a huge firefight.

The only borer that survived was the one that was friendly to their host, sneaking off when the shooting started.

I remember the old heavy MG and the virology deathly corridor.
Those grenades killed lots of marines
And something not many would remember is the time we made "Fort Brog" due to a CO misspelling.

That moment when people made fun of me for having a silly name, called me elf all the time. I kept the name and haven't changed since, honk.

I think some of the coolest things back then was the Sulaco, I liked the old model of Sulaco compared to what it is now but that's a personal preference. I also liked how there was a ton of custom events that happened from monkey viruses, zombies, to changelings. It was pretty neat to have those, even though most of the time they failed miserably. They discontinued those types of rounds due to the salt behind them.

Donations were also used a lot and many people had custom items and armor back then, now it's kinda of backlogged and you don't see very many custom items. Oh well, it's been fun I guess.

I think, the best thing about the old map was that it was just the bog standard SS13 box station. Nothing was changed, everything was there. I think that's what truly made it unique. As for thing to bring back? the machine gun emplacements and SAW, to name a few.

The first time I played a version of Colonial Marines was the time when stuff like this was happening:

Anyone remember the server in that video? It was surely not related to this server. Does anyone also remember the very first Colonial Marines server in 2013 that came before this?

Well, in the era of that video, marines only had C-20r SMGs to work with. And as you can see, if you broke the shuttle console, marines would have no way to get onto the station. The commander would be frequently tabled and robbed of his shoes (and all other clothing) or would just be flat-out C4ed. The mods in this server were as incompetent as they seem and griefers like Bee York would ruin round after round during briefing.

Xenos only had drones, hunters, sentinels, and the queen. Sentinels were the most god-awful caste to play as because they had no convenient hotkey for neurotoxic spitting. You would have to click the "neurotoxic spit" verb and manually select the marine you wanted to spit on. Also xenos could strip marines of all their gear.

Besides that, rounds lasted for ten hours because marines went out into space with a stash of oxygen tanks and no mods were ever online to delete them. OOC was available for everyone to spam paragraphs of "Woody's Got Wood" into. Fun times.

That shit was gold.

It was filled with grief but damn was it great since you could pull all kinds of shit off ingame and as long as you weren't griefing marines it was kosher.

This brought back so many memories.

Rushing Med/Research
Rushing EVA for face-protection
Hugger lockers insta-KO'ing whole squads
Before the pull speed nerf, walking with your squad only to have a runner run up, facehug you, grab you and be out of there with your body before anyone could say anything
Viro/xenobio hives were hell to breach and enter
Shuttle docks always put you off in maint
Tool storage last stands
Briefing fortresses with defenses that made pre-grill nerf Nexus FOBs seem tame in comparison

Just looking at the old Sulaco gave me nostalgia..

I remember a time when genetics were big, and you could change somebody.. I had a round where my friend turned everyone into Jim 'Twitch' Sanders. To the point where the CO made it mandatory to become Twitch. It was hell, and Xenos got scared, they fell back from the Sulaco in fear, as a giant wave of marines with tourettes ran after the queen in a full scale assault.

I will be honest, this was before I was in banter, and was fucking about cus I had nothing to do. Maybe even before Banter squad.


A second tale I remember was standing in a maint tunnel on the Nustromo with Xur and Ghengis Khan, chatting it up as marines were dying, and holding the engineering FoB. We killed 5 Xenos that run, just the three of us.. Good times.


Another was when the queen dragged Xur out to space in a assault. You had 20 marines run into space, kill the xenos in space, save Xur, and get a Marine major.. All because the SL everyone loved was taken.


Another tale, more about me, was my time as an LO.. Marines were cutting in line and fighting. It got to the point where I hit a marine over the head with a toolbox and tossed shit at him to move out of line. Admins never PM'd me for my job as a strict LO, and I kept it up for a while.

Another was when we were in the FoB, I was in mid surgery back when you could doing on a man who was awake.. A runner runs into the FOB, god knows how, and I get up mid embreo removal to kill the little bugger. The more I think about it.. FF wasn't a deal back then.


I'll give you more tales some other time. But this is the short version. SO do ask if you want full tales.
