Killing the hugged/infected.
I'd like to know the communities thoughts on xenomorphs killing hugging marines. I find the behavior to be rather odd, as it makes little to no sense for a xeno to go though the trouble of setting up an infection. Just to cut the head off the host, collect the hugger to kill another using the same tactics. I understand from a gameplay prospective it makes total sense because of how easy it is to kill someone during the long stun, and it takes a long time to get a new hugger let alone drag the infected back to a nest. But from a roleplay prospective it seems rather poor, and wouldn't they want to build up the hive with more larva. I also understand that when you dock with the station you wanna kill even the infected not to prolong the round waiting for one or two people to burst.

Re: Killing the hugged/infected.
Honestly, I view it as a crutch more often than not. Sure, I could probably let it pass if it were something like a carrier doing it (even though I could agree that it would be OOC for a xeno to kill someone after hugging them), to see hunters do it is shameful and promotes bad fighting tactics.
If you can't kill a marine outright, tactical skirmishing from the shadows with the aim to wound and break a bone or two is a much better bet if you can't kill a marine safely. If there is nothing you can do however, just don't bother and find another target.
There is nothing more rewarding than when you manage to ambush a marine and make him shit his pants before shanking him with your tail and fucking off back into the shadows, you know?

Sometimes, bravery comes from the most unlikely sources.

Let me explain why aliens do this: we'll hit you with one hugger to take off your helmet so it's easier to kill you. If we use two, it will knock you out and make it easier to kill you. We don't want to deal with the burden of taking you back to the caves and nest you, just to have you probably escape and ruin a bunch of shit.

if every standard was given a reusable SADAR and was told they could use it without breaking any rules at all, would they drop it in favor of a normal gun or keep the reusable SADAR?Carmac wrote:SpecialAgentOrange wrote:

Im not arguing for hugger combat, but every xeno uses it since its basically a SADAR; its a T3 ability that near instantly removes you ability to play the game or softens you up enough that killing you is ez pez.

I'm not arguing either, also that's a terrible equivalent as believe it or not we only get (possibly, but incredibly unlikely) four SADARS and each one only comes with 5 useful rockets, and you only get reloads if there's an RO and they don't waste their points on something else.
What I meant to point out was while it's a salt-inducing mechanic that doesn't need to exist, it DOES exist, and there's literally no reason to NOT use it, so of course, you do.

Re: Killing the hugged/infected.
From my point of view it's rolebreaking behavior. Just like how marines wouldn't be allowed bring extra metals, and armory weapons as it's punishable. Why would xenos kill people who are downed and in the process of being infected from a hugger? If you went though the effort of hugging them, then drag them back to the hive where a spitter can babysit them.
