I think it is, and everyone knows the reasons, but I may be wrong, debate it.

it adds RP and if marines actually do their job (aka rescuing colonists) then said colonist is allowed to tell marines intel about aliens

it's basically an award for marines to not just metarush and actually do their job, which is rescue colonists

But marines metarush with or without survivors, even so, marines cannot rush into the river before a certain Op. Time.

Nevertheless, xenos make 'legit' those metarush by lurking the marines to the river 8/10 of the times

It gives me a challenge. I like playing as a survivor before I get off because it's short and challenging. You also get rewarded with pride if you're able to survive for that long.

Make survivors more roleplay heavy,

Hell, even whitelist them. At the moment, they're a powergame2survive role when they should be RP4Dayz role.

Don't get me wrong, I love a good tense scene, holding out against the masses but survivors are just near impossible to RP with. If you try to RP early on, you may as well say goodbye to 2 hours of your freetime because young runner (420) wants to meme you along with 4 other runners.

Give them some roundstart counter to huggers. give all equipment sets a boost (Makes sense, these guys have been here 'X' many days/weeks and are still holding out, they will have adapted at least.)

As it stands, it is only a fun role if you meta and power game.

And nobody wants to join a role you could just die at 10 minutes in and wait for 2-4 hours to play again (Please don't say the "join as xeno" bullshit, people likes to play more as human), really, if survivors were removed from the game we wouldn't feel any difference regarding the game.

I love survivor. Usually I take whatever I am wearing and apply what that job /could/ be and what could apply to his knowledge. Most of the time though its me running around with a Fireaxe chopping xenos until they hugger combat me. I would support a whitelist on survivor though.

heh. Sounds like something I aspire to do. Me and this survivor killed 5 xenos in one big brawl using only melee. those were the days.

Survivor is boring as fuck because the moment you get up to Sulaco and (possibly) tell your detail, your fucked outta the round till Marines win or get pushed back to Sulaco.

Or you get hugger combat'd.

Or you stay alive and don't go up to Sulaco... and you can't antag survivor, so your stuck with shit gear or gear you loot off of a SSD marine in the middle of nowhere (hint: really rare).

Basically survivor is just boring as hell right now and only fun if you actively try to kill xenos while they are still all young. Otherwise, its a waiting game of "when will xenos finally pounce + double hugger me?".

It's supposed to be a rp job that requires skill. It ends up being horrible because marines won't rp with you. They'll ignore you, or worse demand you disarm and attack you while you're trying to explain why you need your weapons. If you do go along peacefully you'll be lucky if you get 15minutes of RP with the CL or with command. Then shuttled off to afk in the canteen.

It's also impossible to even survive without power gaming because of the extreme lengths xenos go through to get survivors. Going as far as to ignore monkeys for 20 minutes opening every locker or melting in 5 layers of walls. If survivors had more starting tools perhaps a custom helmet that can block 2 huggers you'd have room to rp without the risk of getting hugger spammed till infection.

I once went survivor and gathered all the building supplies on LV, and used all of to make a maybe 10 layer thick defenses that could only be melted through. The literal ENTIRE hive came to the small sand temple and spent 30 minutes melting in. Then I gave up on survivor

Usually if I play survivor, once I reach the Sulaco I ask command to give me a new job or something. Like researcher or even doctor (depending on what your job was on the colony, but most of them time you can make it up).

I kinda wish there was a rule to keep xenos from being overly persistant to capture survivors. Like Ive killed 5 of them in a run and xenos still tried to catch me. Like at that point a survivor isn't worth the trouble and monkeys are easy larva.

That's what I always argue. Most xeno players retort with something about finding all the monkeys by 15, I don't buy it though.

I rather enjoy survivor for the same reason I enjoy CL, the RP. Though to be honest RP is somewhat rare unless it is low pop. You can get really lucky and have some fun scenarios with RP on the Sulaco, but it is definitely not for everyone, many people don't enjoy talking for an hour doing emotes.

Anyways I do have to agree that hugger combat seriously fucks over survivors. I imagine it will be better once it is removed.

I play queen, they don't. And even as a survivor after an hour I still find monkeys. Survivors are just meta'd even like if they're in a locked down building. It irritates me.

The worst is when I am a Queen, I tell my Runners + to get me monkeys, then wonder 15 minutes in why the fuck there is no monkeys until I see "MOM ENABLE SLASHING" and "YOUNG RUNNER / YOUNG HUNTER (XXX) DIED AT WEYLAND WUTANI COMPOUND".

Thats when I know I have a shit xeno team.

Thats why the second part of my statement happens; they keep trying to kill Survivors even with slashing off.

It would be funny if it was the first time, but it happens every other time I am Queen. I just want to bluespace artillery some of these chucklefucks sometimes.
