CM keeps freezing and crashing, is this affecting anyone else?

I know this should PROBABLY be posted under the bugs subforum, but I saw in chat and LOOC that other people have been having this issue. I suspect this has more to do with BYOND than the server itself.... but the question remains what would be the best solution to fix this? I already tried reinstalling the newest BYOND version multiple times... I'm not sure what else there is to do.

To clarify what happens: I log into CM, and play for anywhere from 5-30 mins, then the client starts to act funky like there is lots of lag, and I can't click on anything or issue commands. The screen COMPLETELY freezes up, and then stops responding. I exit out of the application and have to restart it waiting 30 secs each time due to the BYOND ads. It's a big pain in the ass, and if this keeps up I may have to consider quitting any combat roles as it's pretty much a guaranteed KIA when this happens.

Is it the icon with the gear, that when you hover over it says menu? Also when I click on it, I see a preference tab with options. One of which is - Use graphics hardware for displaying maps (I'm assuming this is it?)
