Of all the times I ever played "Factions", this had probably been THE best game of factions I ever played.
At first, it started off the way I kinda expected it to: Trying to live peacefully with a focus on growing crops and helping the wounded... Then the Nexus faction attacked, broke nearly half the bones in my body during a sudden unjust raid, and I came out of it rather disheartened that I was going to be involved in what could be a long, bloody war.
Realizing that these people probably weren't going to take any prisoners, I decided to briefly leave my tribe to go scouting, my mind torn between either staying loyal to a doomed faction or maybe joining another faction. Whatever the case, I was at least going to get a little recon in to get a general idea on current politics.
Then, while scouting along the edge of the river, I discover the cabin-folk, a very small group of thankfully friendly folk who quickly won me over due to their peaceful nature and remote location, far from the wars that plagued the land and crippled my body. It was then that I went from Medbay Tribe Farmer to Cabin Tribe Smuggler, using my old connections with Medbay to smuggle medical supplies and food from under their noses. I wasn't entirely proud of it, but at the same time, I had to do what I could to survive and support my new home, so the risks were worth it.
After a number of misadventures (from being brutally mauled trying to protect two fellow cabinmates from being eaten, to a horrifying event of fleeing from other hounds trying to get to the Medbay Tribe to get medical attention, Wooki hauling me via rollerbed the whole way) involving loss, joy, horror and sadness, we managed to be pretty much the last stable tribe in the world, bonded by our trials and need for survival, willing to do considerably dangerous things to support one another... And our reward for all that?
A deathsquad, sent to burn down out little tribe. It was a very sad end to an otherwise rather intense and dramatic adventure, kinda bittersweet when you consider that of all the options, we chose to die together as friends instead of giving in to the overwatch and going at each other's throats simply because they told us to.
After all that, I feel very happy that I was able to be a part of that. It started out rough, but in the end, it was a very enjoyable adventure.
