ERT Troop Transport

Post by Steelpoint » 27 Apr 2017, 08:58

A idea that has been brewing in my mind for a while since the introduction of Almayer is the idea of there being Admin spawned ERT Troop Transports, a idea I wanted to discuss. There would be two kind of ERT events.

The first is the current ERT system. After a distress call is answered a ERT Boarding Pod will dock with the Almayer, I do suggest that the Pods are custom made to be tailored to the ERT that spawns but that's for fluff points.

The second is a admin spawn system. Either a Admin can change the ERT that spawn with a upcoming Distress call to instead be a Troop Transport, not the pod, or they can create a event and get ghosts to join.

This system would allow admins to host events such as Iron Bears sending two Troop Ships to attack the Almayer (ships dock at one of the two boarding areas), or for whatever.

---------------

A ERT Troop Transport is a smaller ship that can carry around ten or more ERTs, the ship would be small, being around as long as the distance between the CIC and Self Destruct. This ship would be custom made depending on which ERT is spawned. The PMCs would get a high tech looking warship, the Mercs would get a standard Civilian cargo ship that is converted for merc work, the Dutch's Dozen would have a very cobbled together ship that looks half rusted, the Pizza guys would get a giant ship full of frozen pizza and the Iron Bears would get a very minimalistic Russian warship that has no real creature comforts. The ship itself would be somewhat similar to the Almayer, a bridge, briefing/chow hall, personal rooms/equip rooms, a engine and one or two escape pods.

For bonus fluff points, the ship would have its own on board AI with a different voice and name.

The Troop Transport would be under the command of the ERT leader. The ERT crew would start in their standard issue undergarments and have to equip in their personal locker rooms.

The Transport would start not attached to the Almayer, but the Commander can send the ship to dock whenever they are ready.

This ERT would be more powerful, as they can get from Ten to whatever number of ERTs the admins want, and they have access to more weapons and ammo and they have a base of operations that can't be flanked easily. However this ERT would take far longer to arrive due to the fact the crew have to arm up.

Its just a general idea I had to exploit a docking system and expand the role of ERTs.

The advantages of this idea is that it offers far more opportunity for events to occur, and it expands the role of ERTs to be more indepth and furfilling.

The disadvantages are that its a lot of work for something that mostly happens near the end of the round, it makes ERTs more powerful and it puts a LOT of power and pressure on the head of the ERT Commander, who is randomly selected not chosen.

Tbh, I hate commanding roles, but I love being the leader of any given ERT. It's much less stress as you're the equivalent to a Squad leader AND holds more power than said role at times.

It's a cool idea imo and I encourage you to push it over for implementation.

PS: Two details though: Ship-to-ship combat when AND it'd be cool if not made overwhelming and possibly realistic. I don't see the pizza guy going around in a full pizza ship unless he's somewhat going from world to world or something. (In which case, why again? Just ship the damn pizzas you fool!)

Either way~~~ Good luck on that.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

I like the idea of the pizzaman having a salvaged Yautja ship and just not realizing its potential.

I really like this idea. ERT's can lead to such cool RP situations and scenarios, and having them only be able to appear through a distress beacon (where they usually dont matter), is just a criminal underuse of the system IMO.

Maybe i'm biased because of the gulag round. Regardless, I +1 the shit out of this.
Some guy.

Or perhaps the Pizzaman does know what it is, it's actually a Yautja in disguise posing as a pizzaman.

We have a unused ship near of thunderdome...maybe we can use this? Add just docking areas and a external airlock.
