Can we get moar antagonists?

Post by Crab_Spider » 30 Apr 2017, 15:05

Can we get more recurring antagonists for CM? I love killing xenos, on top of arresting marines (seriously, start giving me warning whenever I'm beating someone) , or being a Praetorian. but it's time we just get more... bad guys. The Iron Bears are the epitome of a one-dimensional antagonist. They serve to pose a challenge to the Marines with a very vague goal. Killing Marines as an IB is fun, but the goal is simply too ridiculous to commit to. Feigning your intentions to make it to the Bridge; solid. Killing the staff inside the Bridge; um... alright? Calling reinforcements to the Alymayer; Logical but I'm sure it'd also work to just sabotage the comms before calling for reinforcements.

It's hard to critique something that's variable, BUT I still want more antagonists! Dammit, just put in some guys that are tasked with extracting xenomorph samples THAT ARE LOCATED IN PARTS OF SOLARIS RIDGE! Or humans cloned with xenomorph DNA that are tasked with bombing Solar Ridge and getting samples of Praetorians, Chestbursters, a Queen, Crusher, Boiler, Hivelord, and Ravager — castes that have unique physiology that actually make a killing in the scientific world and a rival company to/for Weyland Yutani if spliced with human DNA. Bad Blooded yautja (whitelisted of course) that had their plasma casters busted, most other essential equipment stripped, cloak damaged to the extent it brings their camouflage to the level of a Warrior, and they must hunt for other Yautja to steal their shit and leave the planet (or just massacre Marines by the dozens).
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

Make survivors viable so that they can be the best antags ;)

But seriously thou, I find the rounds where survivors are used in events to be relatively great. (E.g. Shadowling survivor round).
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

We have a Nightmare mode that we held last Halloween, a mode in testing where the Marines go up against PMCs on LZ.

Because you 2 would look great with a crew cut, and I would have stopped earlier if you told me you didn't like it.

Honestly, marines don't need more antagonists because it is hard enough to deal with one as is.

This isn't like normal SS13, where it is based on a bunch of space-station dwellers trying to do their jobs and dealing with covert ops, kills aliens and other distracting things that get in the way of them doing their jobs. This is a game where you are on one side, and your enemy the other, and the goal is to wipe each other out by any (logical ICly) means.

While it might not seem like much if you are a grunt, if you are part of command staff, it is an insane burden trying to juggle everything during the chaos that takes place during a round, from marines misunderstanding orders to staff that fail to do the simplest things, they have enough problems as is. Adding more antagonist would just make being a member of command staff less fun and far too stressful.

I'm happy just keeping with the current antags we have, instead of having more problems to juggle.
Sometimes, bravery comes from the most unlikely sources.

A official human vs human gamemode will just resolve into...well...alot of people rushing each other and dying like its World War

Those rounds will also probably end really quick, as people aren't xenos who can heal off weeds, all injuries are most likely to fuck you up forever and if you don't have a competent doctor in your team...rip

We had Marines vs Rebels once, it was chaos, marines would disguise themselves as Rebels, only to be shot at by fellow marines. And Rebels would disguise themselves as Marines and get shot by fellow Rebels. People should just stay in their uniforms... Keks.
Death, is just another part of life.

It's a long-term goal to add more modes and antags.

That's actually considered a war crime.
