Yeah we knew this, now if only we could remove xenomorph language from the universal recorder.
Also apop prefers "daddy".

Pretty sure, everyone knew this. It was a pretty big thing when we did it nearly 2 years ago.

... why exactly didn't you just do that earlier? Or just make a rule about it and enforce it with extreme prejudice ?

On the subject of Xeno/Human communication I like it when the Queen uses psychic whispers to communicate with marines. I once convinced a squad to walk right into eggs and that we "welcomed" them.

Wait, I remember using it to figure out what the alien hisses me. Turns out larva really like rapping.

Pretty sure this happened even without the universal recorder, considering the fact that you couldn't shoot xenos on sight before, which lead to things like Queen on Sulaco without being shot down.
At least thats what Feweh said, ive never played this version of CM back in the day.

It could be pretty entertaining at times, got kinda dull when it happened every round though.

Never happened, the rule was enforced to not shoot xenos on sight but for ones as big as the Queen this was generally ignored because she's kinda big and scary.

I recall not too long before the Sulaco was changed to the Almayer, we used a universal recorder to communicate with a captured Spitter. It was good RP that I really miss sometimes. At least Synthetics can kinda fill that gap now in terms of understanding xenos.

See, the SOMETIMES work. As a survivor me and my friend tried to record a last words message that detailed the xenos on big red. About half of what was said was picked up, so I dunno if that's intentional or not

I'm pretty sure synths are ment to take a more roleplay-controlled stance to communicating with aliens now. That is, you can't just go 'Oh hey you want a ceasefire my man?', the alien, synth and researchers can play it out as needed.
Of course, this thread started several months prior to synthetics which is why no one was talking of it at the time.
