Why was reverse bursting almost nerfed to death?
Recently I found out the hard way that aliens can stuntackle you without hugging or critting, and be able to transport ALIVE, HEALTHY people in their stomachs to their hive without dealing with reverse bursting. Before if you moved around, every time you moved it would attack the xenomorph with whatever you were holding, such as a crowbar, axe, or even a canister of milk. This allowed for marines to beat xenos who were dumb enough to devour alive and ACTIVE marines to reverse burst and escape. Now it seems you only attack once every few seconds. You can't even damage the alien holding you in time to escape now. This hard nerf also is a huge scale back for survivors who tend to get ganged by 3-4 alien hunters or spitters and have no way to fight back due to stun lock. My question is why would the devs want to scale back reverse bursting and what positives come out of it besides allowing silly or unknowing xenos from getting reverse bursted by marines?

i don't remember seeing this in the changelog, isn't it a bug?
EDIT: Reverse bursting still effective if you use a knife, it was not nerfed to death.

The funniest thing about this particular text is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it

The attack speed was slowed down, and the interior damage was reduced.
Survivors went from getting buggered in the first 5 minutes, to slashed to death in the first 5 minutes, and now there is a chance they might get stunned and devoured in the first 5 minutes without fear of reverse bursting just to transport them though the tunnel.
If you have a melee weapon, you can still pull it out and equip it while inside IIRC to increase your chances of escaping.

Perhaps if you held a knife in your hand...

I saw a survivor pull out a crowbar and was BARELY able to reverse chestburst a Mature Hunter but it was a solid 6-7 minutes of constant attacking from the inside because he was lost in the caves on weeds and healing through the whole thing.
I haven't seen aliens reverse chestburst marines yet though because they just kill them all now.

Aliens chestbursting marines is called "Chest bursting". I get what you're saying, but attributing xenos killing marines to a reverse chestburst nerf is odd. If anything, it would make it more likely for aliens to attempt to capture humans.
The time it should take may be debatable, but I hope that everyone taking part in that debate would recognize that exploding within a single tick of the game because your captive rolled his hand over the directional keys while holding a flashlight is questionable at best.

TLDR: Go back and read it. I spent time writing that, ya know.

Well, previous round I reverse-bursted an elite spitter for like 10 hits with a combat knife. Feels pretty balanced now. Ayyyyys can safely move survivors, but marines are big no-no if they are not in paincrit.

The problem with that is that survivors don't start with any knives at all, only crowbars and a pistol. If the alien was unhurt or even hurt a bit, they can still safely transport alive and awake survivors with devour and not suffer a reverse burst. I haven't been devoured yet as a marine but from what I have seen on here that a knife can allow you to break free usually. Is there anything that can be done to help survivors with this issue or are you okay with the current state of devouring

Re: Why was reverse bursting almost nerfed to death?
So give me a idea of how it currently works.
Last time I reversed bursted was when a Queen gobbled me up, I got my knife out and I bursted out after about two or three seconds of thrashing around.
How long does it take now to do the same?

I'm not sure, if you're devoured it acts just as if you are slashing them with a knife from the out, it takes about the same time to stab an alien as it does when you're clicking on them regularly, so you can see that it takes a long time to kill an alien with a knife inside their stomach

Before it was changed I'm pretty sure I remember bursting out of an alien at light speed. You could break out so fast they couldn't even react. Current speed's pretty good now.

Ive been reverse bursted by a knife into a (Second) revolver, took about ten seconds and gibbed me before I could get even through one tunnel on LV. Its very possible still, probably a better way to escape than normal fighting too.

Should be reworked in my opinion to give survivors a slightly higher chance of survival.
