I haven't played medic in a little while because I've been trying to focus on learning roles that I haven't played much before (also the pill update scares me). I promise that Joseph Costello will return in the near future to give you two quick clots straight to the jugular.

if I'm playing Marine I'll probably be playing Medic nowadays!

Although I have moved on to Doctor recently, I still like to throw in a Medic game from time to time!

It's a high-stress job and sometimes you don't feel properly appreciated, marines will demand you heal them when they have a 20 brute damage bo-bo and you're trying to defib a Squad Leader..

In any case, you also don't see much combat. Rather you SEE combat but don't get to participate in it, so I imagine that has a good bit to do with it too.

Thirdly, a lot of the masses probably have very little interest in learning how to properly administer medicine.

I was going to try medic again, but good god, what's up with the pill and pill bottle change? Juggling bottles was already a pain, but now I gotta squint at everything because someone was worried a standard marine might be able to self medicate if they find the bottle I dropped.

To be honest marines should just learn to use first aid pouch for any minor injuries that aren't crit pain. It's amazing how much sustain the first aid pouch gives once you start using it.

Personally, I stopped playing altogether because of the pouch update (wrecked my storage scheme) and the skill update (I hate that shit with a passion). I might come back eventually, but I think I'll just observe when I do, as staff have finally succeeded in removing all remaining creativity from the game, and I am no longer interested in playing.

Honestly the best thing marines got, first aid helps so much just by having that extra tricord if needed and patching yourself in really light injury after one spitter hit.

The worst part of being a medic is spending an entire defib on some baldie just for him to wake up, call you an egghead for some reason, and rush the alien queen with a machete consequently dying and wasting all your supplies while at the same time being poked by another marine with a 2 brute damage injury on his left foot.

The loadout's interesting, but you need a chemist for that level of stuff, AND you need to be able to access medical pre-briefing for that to work (which I believe got removed?).

I may try this, though. Maybe.

it was not removed, just that you need ask permission to pass by the checkpoints with the MPs.

Most of then are chill and allow you to go through.

I'm 90% sure that the admin that added in the ladder shutters is the only WO/ CO that forbids medics from going on the upper deck before briefing.

Not sure where you get that info, I allow medics go to medbay all the time. All WOs pretty much is cool with it.

only one WO or not that you will get that will be evil and not allow you to go through.

If you don't want to bother with the meds in suit storage you don't even need to go to Medbay at all.

But for convenience you would at least want normal peri, otherwise you can just get everything else but weapon/ammo from your medic prep room and just go straight down.

I've slowed down my medic playing just because I've been in a rooty shooty mood lately. But, one thing for sure. Fuckin boots TAKE A FIRST-AID POUCH. Those things are the fuckin BEST. You have no idea how much I hate fixing your tiny ass boo boo's because you couldn't be bothered to take Gods greatest gift the the Marine Corp since the stable MRE bar. You can last sooo much longer in combat just taking one of these pouches and using it effectively.

On help intent if you click on yourself you get this handy little read out of where your hurt and how bad it is.
If your blistered or any thing worse then that, ointment. That'll remove most of the pain and unless it was a really bad spit from like a prae it'll fix most of the actual damage
If your bruised or bleeding, bandaid it. That'll keep you fighting and start your slow light passive heal you kinda have so long as your not hungry. Also stops infections which can practically kill you if you get one and dont have a medic to fix you.
If you get little to beat up for comfort tricord yourself just to give yourself a little boost towards maybe not needing to fuck around waiting on a medic. Tricord can also be refilled in any Nanomeds you find on the DS or Almayer, so even if you use yours don't drop it. You can use the same one and a nano med to inject yourself twice then leave with it still filled.

If people learn to be more self-reliant in their healing it can allow medics to deal with the important shit like dead marines, internal bleeding/general blood loss, fucked up organs, and broken bones. (tho really try sucking some medic or doc off till they give you some splints so you can do it yourself and stay in the fight even better you fuckin scrub, also splint other people who break their heads/chests) Maybe medics will do better and stick around healing more if it isnt all baby shit and PFC's crying like little bald babies.

The first aid pouch is great, and glad to see some of the stuff tossed to the everday marines.

I didn't mind the pouch update, I don't like the ammount of clicking I have to do, but It didnt break my load out. It changed some of my load out choices, but doesn't stop me from doing my job.

The pouch update didn't really do much to change medics, it actually feels a little better with more slots easily reached. I tend to play doctor now though when I can bring myself to deal with the tide of armless marines, feels more impactful (And I've not got to deal with bald marines punching me for not fixing their papercuts).

I like the 3 slot medical pouches, and if I can swing two of them, I'm laughing for the round. Mostly I miss not being able to hit 'e' to toss my scanner back into my pocket or my Tram bottle. Just more clicking but it wasn't bad. The satchel hold enough stuff to do my job and keep a helathy supply of extra kit on me.

Yeah if we can fuck off with the whole 'ordering medics back to briefing' when they're just trying to get the supplies they need that'd be great, I can deal without extra chem's but this new trend is just sucking out all the fun. Sure, you can call it role play and it may make sense from an in-character perspective but it's just annoying and frankly not fun in the slightest for anyone who plays medic, not even considering all the other changes that have made playing the class almost a chore.
