CLF gamemode?
Whilst aliens is fun it would be interesting to see some different types of enemy, we have infection coming in which should be interesting but fighting against another set of armed personnel is interesting. It would be using the same maps as we are now, however CLF forces would be stationed planetside, they would be quite numerous and marines would be automatically selected if the population is too low. Survivors would basically be the people staying loyal and not joining the CLF, they would start in a similar situation as they are now but with better weapons and some building materials.

We've had this thread about 1000 times, I'm pretty sure they're working on the current gamemodes before moving on to any future ones.

Or maybe allow survivors to spawn as a crash landed UPP/CLF squad.
This is what dreams nightmares are made of.

Re: CLF gamemode?
I remember a round as SL where we were meant to hold Nexus but half my squad ran off to sit in Hydro (as per usual), where they were promptly ambushed and killed by UPP. The whole dynamic was awesome, and honestly, made the round feel a lot less routine when the aliens finally showed up en masse.
I don't think a whole different game mode is necessary though. Just having a random chance (like a pred round) of having human antags spawn on the ground would be an interesting uncertainty to the constant routine of Alien mode. And if nothing else having a few UPP/CLF on the ground would punish rambo marines trying to powergame and charge the Aliens.
As others have said, I'm sure the devs are busy trying to prepare Infection first and foremost, with anything like this much lower on the priority list.

Re: CLF gamemode?
There's a lot of game modes under development, sadly there's more important stuff to do yet before that, but I'm sure a marine vs upp game mode is on the table and should be ready soon (tm)
Marine: Ruben Dario
Yautja: Makauu’rel
Synthetic: Saturn / Shepherd (old model)

Re: CLF gamemode?
Hm, what thycydides said about having a group of C.L.F. survivors being around to punish marines running off to do their own thing away from their squad may be an apt idea as long as it isn't a given that there will be hostile survivors on the ground from the get-go. As in, if it were only a small chance you would spawn in that manner as a survivor, or else people may get used to it.
The every-day game mode we have going on right now is still under development, the coders, mappers and spriters are constantly working away together to square off corners and add on new ones as needed, so you can't very well expect them to be able to create an entirely new game mode when they haven't even finished the very first one and are, of course, still working on the recent infection one even more-so. We've had previous one-shot games where a unique event went down such as Wey-Yu P.M.C. survivors holding down a ramshackle fire-base or freelance mercenaries doing much the same thing, but the chances of an out-right game mode being dedicated solely to marines versus C.L.F.'s fairly minimal at the moment.
It may change in time once the developers have cleared up the last pieces of our current game mode but until then we can only discuss the possibilities of it. And we all know that people may use antagonist survivors as an excuse to absolutely destroy the marines upon them landing.

Re: CLF gamemode?
We had a gamesome called "Nightmare on LV" where Marines faced off against NPC PMCs. The problem was that it was too unbalanced even for me, there was little ammo, Marines by default were engineers or medics, and it had too much of a Call Of Duty feel.
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

Re: CLF gamemode?
Feweh hosted an event like this a while back, where a large bunch of clf got spawned in and the idea was they would take over the ship till a wy/cm response team could be sent to liberate it.
Instead we had a clusterfuck. After heavy fighting, most marines upright refused to surrender to the clf/upp even under the co's orders, even when out gunned and surrounded, and even with constant ARES and command announcements ordering them to surrender. iirc only 4 people surrendered and rp'd as prisoners. A bunch of clf in the cic who were negotiating the surrender of the command staff got anasthetic injector/double qc by a rambo doctor, the xo fled to the planet with a few marines but clf took him prisoner, and rode the dropship back up, only for everyone on board (inc the xo) to be killed by rambo marines disobeying orders and not rping.
And to top it all off, a researcher bombed the brig the measly 4 prisoners were in and went rambo with a pulse rifle, leading to all the prisoners deaths.
Basically it was a potentially fun and interesting round made terrible by the majority of the server not being able to rp correctly, which is why you don't see these events anymore. Why host them when you know the majority of players won't even try to work with you?

Re: CLF gamemode?
Well I think one of the issues there is that players were not expecting that round, they were not doing a normal mission and instead got boarded which is going to be a clusterfuck. If the clf were already planetside and had defenses setup I imagine it would be a much better type of combat.Nubs wrote:Feweh hosted an event like this a while back, where a large bunch of clf got spawned in and the idea was they would take over the ship till a wy/cm response team could be sent to liberate it.

I've done that too and it was just as big of a disaster.
UPP Leader requested USCM CO to come planetside to discuss surrender at one point and the UPP Goons all insta gunned the CO down.
This is why we cant have nice things.
