people already FF with the smartgun somehow, it turning off would obviously negate that. it's basic math.

I mean, getting kills with the smartgun increases your Smartgunning rank. If you've got a baldie that doesn't know how to point a gun or a few SSD in cyro, why not train your skills up? It's only 50 kills to get from Specially Trained to Master and shooting monkies and dying marines count as well! If marines run in front of you on the ground it's their own damn fault and they should stop being so bald.

Turning the IFF off also increases stopping power. Make sure to grab a BC!

I have genuinely seen people friendly firing with smartguns on the FF logs already.

Considering I've seen fully armoured Marines die in three or so bursts of a stock Smartgun, I think this would be a hilarious suggestion.

Followed very quickly by madness. Madness and stupidity.

Friendly fire is a major marine issue as it stands. This would be tipping it over the edge.

Like if you get a brand new sniper does it come with a scope already setup? No, so why would a brand new smartgun come with IFF already turned on. This is utter madness and it must be fixed.

Well our sniper/marksman weapons do come with pre-set up scopes.

I'm all for a good larf but this suggestion is just going to piss a lot of people off, and result in a large amount of unnecessary blue on blue incidents. I can assure you that even veteran players are going to be caught off guard at first.

Then they should be banned for metagaming of course! Assuming the gun will have IFF turned on automagically at round start is using info from other rounds, this is not allowed.
