"Saving the day" moments...

Post by SuperestKirbyStar » 17 Sep 2017, 15:05

I thought it would've been cool to make a new thread regaring "saving the day moments".

Have you ever had them and what did you do exactly?

Personally i never recall of me having moments like that.

There was a Marine that got pounced by an Elite Hunter and I managed to run in at the 2 second mark, blast it off with my shotgun (foregrip + BC + mag harness, because why not?) and before it could get up, I point blanked it, killing it, and saving the Marine. I wish I remembered their name so I could have more killing time with them.
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

I was at the firing range with my CAS copilot since marines were pushed into the caves with 3 xenos left.

Suddenly UPP boarding event.

A few minutes after heated gunfire as I attempt to drag as many people to medbay, the liaison had been critically wounded in his office and trapped his assailant inside. He can't move. I start carefully making my way, avoiding the UPP patrols as the marines are still making their way back to LZ1.

Queue some fighting, my hand getting blown off, and only finding a 10 round gyro m41a, my saving grace, and my mod88 to defend myself now.

I break into the office from maintenance, and find Mr. Cavalet in paincrit in his chair. I have an advanced first aid kit and stabilize him as best I can.

What follow is about 15 minutes of dragging a paincrit CL in a coffin to hide him from opposing forces. Heading back to medbay only to see the civilians that tried to resist and provide aid to everyone shot in the head.

I'm lucky to finally find a medic and leave the CL for a moment in his care, as I run to the CIC.

Aliens have boarded now, marines are fighting full force against the UPP who have activated a 3 minute SD timer.

I slam the evacuate button as the RO and CE try to call emergency response.

I run back to see Mr. Cavalet unattended in the coffin. He still can't get up but at least he's stable.

I drag the coffin past firing marines, past a UPP push. I can hear the scratches of others further to the north. We are forced to take the south route.

We make it to the evac pod with about 10 seconds left.

Was a great end to a special round.

Edit2:

Obligatory saving Private day round.

Fireteam got cornered in Hydroponics by a Mature Praetorian. While we were getting stunned, I got up and charged at the filthy xeno with my machete and annihilated them within close-quarters combat with righteous fury. Turns out they were the final xeno, and the round ended shortly after.

Within that same round, I saved one of my battle-brothers from being killed by an Elite Ravager by charging them with a gyroscopic shotgun and machete, dispatching them.

It was a good day.

Simple one: A round yesterday I think, Delta pushed the northeast caves on LV-624 and it was going well until they got routed. I went back up to the Almayer for medical or something, and when I got back down I was with a hodgepodge of other squads running rampant in the caves. We started getting messed up and I got captured (obviously), only to be dragged into a chamber filled with all the rest of Delta, still alive. Thankfully, Alicia Parker was kind enough to break free and sink her bootknife into my windpipe before I gave birth to a xeno maggot.

...Saved my day, at least. I'm almost certain the rest of Delta died writhing in agony shortly after.

Hey I was your co-pilot! I died in about 10 seconds flat!

Basically any moment playing medic feels like a saving the day moment. One in particular was after the aliens had boarded, I suddenly found myself surrounded by about 4 marines in various states of injury. Somehow I managed to not only defib one back to life, get two of them back out into the fight, and begin my work on the others, but I also managed to fend off multiple alien attacks, killing a runner who tried to jump the patient I was working on.

Saving lives is awesome, fending off aliens in the process is even better. Even since then I always take a shotgun as medic.

Yes, this was most heroic. The valiant Ensign Laborde risked his life to save yours truly, and will forever go down in my memory as another Horatio. Hats off to you.

I was a synth that equipped full riot armour after being told to equip protective gear. The commander and some other command staff were in CIC as the DS crashes right next to it and about 10 Aliens are storming into the CIC. I run to the table with the console and the buttons and wait until the commander passes through the back-door, while aliens are rushing for me and him. I manage to hit the CIC lockdown button trapping the 10 Aliens in the CIC together with me while the commander and staffed managed to escape without the Aliens being able to follow them. I then fight off a ravager and hunter with a machete almost critting the hunter (He was retreating) until I get my hand ripped off, dragged off and critted until finally being killed.

Not something I did, rather I was "saved". Sort of.

I was the acting commander and an SL had retrieved a Predator's disk weapon. However, he had been captured. The Predator, naturally, went looking for his weapon and found his way onto the ship. He was convinced I had the disk and he had taken me and three others hostage. I'm talking to the predator and attempting to defuse the situation when an MP shows up and throws a flashbang making the pred run away. All well and good. Unfortunately, he returns and manages to get us pretty much in the same spot. This time though, the CMP arrives with a goddamn flamer, lights me and the predator on fire, and we manage to shoot it down and kill it. I say "saved" because we were talking things out and THE CMP SET ME ON FIRE.
I used to play Luke Compton. Now I play Reginald Dempsey.

This is sarcastic, telling you in advance.

I'm the XO. Zombie event during regular round, so we're dealing with both issues, all hell's broken loose, the Commander went and died, quarantine has been breached, we've abandoned the surface, it's pure chaos. LT Bill Carson is leading the quarantine efforts as I frantically attempt to hold it all together. Suddenly, a zombie gets into the CIC. Carson, another SO, and I, just stand there for a second... And then the thing charges me. Being in red alert, I have my good old Mk 1 pulse rifle, and light it up, eventually killing it, but not before I am infected. As this is happening, Carson and the other SO just stand there. Carson's yelling very helpful things like "Shoot it, XO!", and such. Thanks for the help, guys.

Oh yeah. I was the one who started that event by challenging God's authority. Then I converted to Beelzebub! :D

I was part of a rag-tag squad of marines banded together with one mission in mind: Saving Private Day

After a retreat from the caves went wrong, the hole planet was evacuated. For a few minutes, we all thought the planet was lost, and it was time to leave. However, to our surprise, Frankie Day hid in a bodybag during the cave massacre, and was still stuck hiding as xenos prowled by. The commander ordered all remaining marines to DS2 to retrieve Day, and most of us went in a fervor of passion and glory. Finding Day was easy, as all the Xenos congregated around DS1. After that I think there was a drawn out battle in Xenus and the xenos ended up riding to the Almayer and killing everyone anyways. That part didn't matter though. Because we had done it, we pulled ourselves out of the blood and muck, and we did something worthy of inclusion in the eternal verses sung of marine gallantry and sacrifice.

We saved the Day.
