A toast to the oldies

Post by Casany » 08 Oct 2017, 17:40

As of now, many of the people who were regarded by some as pillars of the community have slowly been leaving. It's the natural course of things. But I don't want the people like Xur and Toro to be forgotten. They might have left, moved on to real life things (and good for them), but they should be remembered. The games changed a lot in the two years it's been up, about to be three, and we shouldn't let the people who made it a great place (either through popularity, or development) be forgotten.

A toast to those who left our shitty 2d spessmans simulator.

It's better for a few vets to just be forgotten.
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

Just like real life, one man's hero is another man's enemy.

Xur might have had a really crappy past, but in the time I knew him, I looked up to him and yearned to be as respected as he was at the time, feeling excitement to be under his command in a squad (and moreso when he began to show an honest respect towards me for my efforts to support the team).

He was the reason I work as hard as I do to be a good team player, and is even the reason I eventually tackled SL and became a pretty decent leader (speaking of which, I really gotta dabble in SL more). I might not be as robust as he was, but I still am what I am today because of him.

Man, though.. It really is amazing how long I been a part of this community. I had my ups, my downs, my burnouts here and there and my salty rage moments. But through it all, I seen a lot and met quite a few folks, many which are gone now and replaced with new faces that make a name for themselves in due time.

And one day, I'll be gone too. I doubt I'll play this game forever. At some point, something else is gonna come up and I'll lose interest in this game. And when that days comes... I'll wonder if anyone remembers the old bald weenie.

I don't know who Toro is, but I know Xur. He was the man with the edgy nickname of Ghost. Living in "The hood" isn't easy.(It's a joke IDK Where he lives).

We're down a robust marine, God speed marine. May your Ghost return to us....

At what point, does a person become an oldie. There are the questions.

But yeah, its a bummer that a lot of the old faces are leaving and a bunch of new people I have no idea who they are are coming now.

It is natural of communities to change with time, people coming and going and thus bringing new names to respect or dread.

Heck, when I first came here, a lot of people never thought much of me. To them, I was just some new baldie that would probably play for awhile before either getting banned or just moving on elsewhere. But then I kept playing and playing, wanting my name to get known, each day earning a little more renown. Sometimes I'd get lucky and do something epic that would get me even more fame, earning respect from some of the big kids... And nowadays, I kinda am one of the big kids. I might not be as popular as some, sure, but people certainly know me by now.

It really is a journey when you think about it... Starting from humble beginnings, not knowing anything and bumbling about, slowly working your way up until one day you become a respected member of the community (even getting several whitelists to boot!)... And then, one day, like everyone else, you leave for greener pastures... And then someday, someone you once thought little of takes your spot, and the journey begins anew

Please just go on the life support gramps, we can't risk you going out like STL and Toro.

I remember Noah Kirchner! draws M44 "I'm the best Noah!" We used to fight over who is the better Noah. Now I just build FOBs alone with no arguing and teaching baldies how to build... :(
