Pill bottles Random Colours - RP Reason?
So I was readign about the pill bottles being a random colour each round, each type the same colour for that round only. Fair enough, it makes us have to shift click each round, but is this really a good way to do this in an RP setting? What i mean is, in real life it is essential to know what pills are in what bottle and colour labeling them is a good way to do this. Surely with such an important situation, it would be best to keep the colours the same, so that people can memorize them and instantly know which is which?

For the sake of RP they were always that way on a per-round lore basis. It's still better than before where you had literally no way of telling them apart other than mouseover because they were all the same color. These days you just have to memorize a few distinctive colors per-round and you're all set. Worst comes to worst just do it the old way and keep track of what you're using and when.Dufferin wrote: ↑09 Oct 2017, 13:31So I was readign about the pill bottles being a random colour each round, each type the same colour for that round only. Noob question - I am new - but are autoinjector colours the same every round?NGGJamie wrote: ↑09 Oct 2017, 13:34For the sake of RP they were always that way on a per-round lore basis. Injectors and chems themselves are always the same color still. Only pills because those are the most common for PFCs and the like to get their hands on. Plus I don't believe standards can use needles anyway(though they can use Tric injectors specifically).

Re: Pill bottles Random Colours - RP Reason?
Standards used to have to pretend not to know what pills where. This was changed to a mechanical limitation (standards can't use pills at all) which got people mad. This was the compromise option, it implies that every standard marine is incapable of reading though.
Just ask your medic to pass you a painkiller at the beginning of the round, maybe a bicard as well. Then you know what to look out for if a medic from another squad dies.

Standards cannot know what pills are, pill bottle contents, cannot use syringes and only use Tricord injectors.

W-Y are maniacs and to save money on patenting their medication they use IUPAC labelling.
Ie tramadol labels actually read : (1S,2S)-2-[(dimethylamino)methyl]-1-(3-methoxyphenyl)cyclohexanol;
But medics and doctors are trained to see that as Tramadol.
There is my silly roleplay reasoning.

This. ^ Honestly the only thing I think is weird is how standards can only use tricord injectors and not others because, "they don't know what's in them", but of course since they actually all are color coded and static I guess is makes sense from the balance standpoint, but it's still kinda dumb ICly. Kinda off topic, but mention-worthy since we're talking about the medic changes.

It was put in to stop power-gaming and falls under the "This is why we cant have nice things" reason.
A lot of players where just mass taking medical supplies, especially Pills pre-deployment and never needing a medic.
This adds more value to doctors and medics on our server.

I have fond memories pre-nerf, of a marine stopping by my acid pain-critted form just long enough to slide off my medical belt and loot the tramadol and oxy injectors. So basically what Feweh said.
