Where Do Civilians/Non-Frontline Personal Live?

Post by Steelpoint » 23 Oct 2017, 08:42

While I was mulling over the new Commanders personal quarters, and wondering why the Corporate Liaison has no personal toilet, I began to wonder. Where do the Doctors, Maintenance Personnel and Cargo Staff sleep and store their possessions when off duty?

The Commander has a lavish personal quarters, the Executive Officer has a modest personal quarters, the Staff Officers share a comfy, but communal, living area, the Pilots (awkwardly) bunk up in semi-personal quarters, the Marines all sleep in a barracks like area, and the Corporate Liaison has his own personal office/quarters.

However there is none of that for anyone else?

So, where does the Chief Engineer, Maintenance Techs, Cargo staff and the Doctors all stash themselves when off duty but not in cyro?

(PS, I don't think "they just cryo themselves" is viable since its clear the ship is designed for the crew to be out of cryogenics for extended periods, long enough to warrant extensive personal facilities and rooms to be constructed)

They have work lockers, I imagine they put their things there.

Something tells me a locker will be uncomfortable to sleep in.

They sleep in cryo you scrub, just like marines do. The barracks are for, extended operations, like it says they're not for every day use.

So where do they sleep during extended operations?

Maybe they have slumper parties in the research rec room, and the MT’s build a giant fortress for their beds.

I imagine that everything but the doctors would still sleep in the extended operations bunks, they ARE still marines.

To be honest though I always imagined much like the cargo deck there was another deck sort of outta sight that Marines slept in, probably just a headcanon but I felt the in game representation just left out such things as that.

The extended op bunks don't offer much room for extra people to sleep in on first inspection.

I did think of the FLT theory that there is a hidden third deck where there are additional support systems and bunk areas for the civilians, makes the most sense.

They obviously stay in CO's room and tell them bedtime stories about bad Marines that get gobbled up for being disobedient to help CO sleep

The engineers might be comfy bedding down in the cargo deck in the automated cargo system but I can't imagine the docs doing that.
