The most unrobust thing you've ever done

Post by contactdenied » 09 Nov 2017, 23:52

Since we already have a robust moments thread, then why not have an unrobust moments thread? Moments where you've fucked up to the point of no return, or getting messed up in the worst ways imaginable, pretty much anything involving horrible failure at something like slipping on a bar of soap during a fight with a pred and then getting laughed at in dchat as your head gets chopped off.

I'll start off, pred round on LZ 624. I'm watching over south nexus when a colonist named Danny Stone walks out of the bushes, he's dressed in gladiator gear and as I examine him I notice he has a double bladed energy sword. I pass it off as one of those toy swords you can find on Big Red. He challenges me to a duel after a bit of talk, and I accept, believing I can easily stab him a few times in the head and win. I was wrong, he was being taught by a pred and I was given a fire axe. The energy sword turns out to be real, and I sweat drop as he activates it. I'm scared but I get the jump on him as soon as the pred gives the start signal. My clicks weren't registering at all. He was hitting me in the head but my helmet absorbed the first few hits, still wasn't able to land any hits before he one shots me and I insta die. I was taken away, and reduced to a pile of remains. My head became a trophy while he ate my flesh, and I was ashamed. The one round where I decide to ditch the throwing knife pouch and go for ammo storage.
Phillip Driver, jack of all trades, reliable in some. Your typical jumpy flamer PFC or ammo fumbling CPL, always has a pair of ballistic goggles on him for unknown reasons. Will probably die mid sentence, because he talks (and gets bullied) too much for his own good. He has his moments though.

Jim, a Gen 2 Synthetic. Has a tendency to get melted to bits when planet side, and that's when he's behind barricades. Despite that, he's vigilant and always ready to drag you out of danger, even if it damages him in the process.

I was playing MP which I usually hate, but I was trying to pepperspray some drunk marine and I ended up pepperspraying the commander who was right next to the Marine.

Get chased by MPs as colonist just to slip on a banana, get tazed, dragged to DS, and gunned down by sentry. Then heal for an hour, get sent back down just to step off DS and get sentry'd again and die

It was august 4th, a lone, brave, fresh marine makes his way to the planet after being filled in on the situation by his comrades. As the drop pod hits the ground, he steps out carefully checking every corner and trying to peer further into the darkness in an attempt to see the unknown dangers which lurked beyond the reach of our lights. Then he shot himself in the chest with his m4a1, breaking it, getting called a moron by the medic and being sent back up on the pod to go into surgery for 10 minutes or so.

I went down on the planet and got into some serious fighting, last one alive, I try to shoot and I realize that I didn't load my shotgun. After getting nearly killed, I switch to my revolver and to my horror realize that it wasn't loaded either.

I predictably died horrifically.

Getting prepped. Putting the safety on because muh firearms safety.

Fast forward to deployment, forget the safety. First hostile contact, I'm tapping the mouse like a madman, panic and turn off safety just before getting killed like an idiot.

Throwing a knife into a cloaked pred on purpose to scare him off, he then responded by decloaking and cutting my face off.

I’ve accidentally knocked myself out with my wrist scimitars as a pred trying to see if my chest was broken. During a lodge attack too.

I shot my SL not once, not twice, but thrice! I was so disappointed and embarrassed I cryo'd and left the server.

Managed to shoot two people with the gyroshotgun in a row due to my reloading muscle reflex and panicing, poor guys were just lining up for attachments on the sulaco

Administration was really cool about it even though it looked like a super unlikely situation to occur.

These are from two rounds as Commander:

- I've ordered a fierce no retreat, which understandably is leading towards a mutiny, Marines are dying yadda yadda. One of the PO confronts me in the CIC and demands that I rescind my order. He draw his sidearm on me, so I draw the Mateba, intending to BE him. I forget I'm on help intent and smack him with it, rather than give him a nice new ear in the middle of his forehead, before I step back and gun him down. Intents, amiright?

- The xenos have just boarded. I'm organizing the defence, and hear someone yell that the xenos are in the hangar. Turns out, they were actually right outside the CIC. As I was distracted, it was not locked down, and they just mosied right in. I was making an announcement, when suddenly, xenos en masse. I am surrounded in the little command bubble and die. In NY last moments, I try to hit the CIC lockdown to trap them inside and help those who made it out escape, but I miss and instead shut the armories.
Charlton 'Stiffy' Cavalet-I'm probably in the CIC (or CL's office), by choice or RNG, who knows.
9/19 Wins per rounds ratio as Commander
I also play as the synthetic named Lucien, and I am an ex-mentor.

Flamed fellow marine.. twice. In a row. Without even scratching alien going after him. Poor soul got husked quickly and was not unable to be revived.

Not my best moment.
