Sneaking on to the Almayer as a Larva
So recently I was warned against sneaking onto the Almayer as a larva as it's considered suicidal. I was more of the opinion that it's a high-risk, high-reward strategy, and not the same as trying to engage in combat as a larva, which is just stupid and has no payoffs. It's something I've done late-game to considerable success before when another hunter or sentinel won't make much of a difference in the fight, but a drone on the almayer could slow down marine logistics, medical and distract command from doing their job. It's not something I'll be doing again without an admin greenlight, but was wondering what the rest of the communities thoughts on this were. I've always been of the opinion that if 2 POs aren't enough to prevent a xeno from sneaking on a dropship then they aren't doing their job right, and that it should be left as an ingame issue. Plus I'm always for more xenos making it on the almayer before the dropship crash, as its fun for the xenos and gives the MPs something to do. Anyways interested to hear everyones thoughts on the matter.

meta/powergaming, also really dumb of the larva and you can just evolve into a runner and hide then and there

Acting like Solid Snake as larva tends to end in one less larva to the hive and can make the Queen angry or worse, mod intervention.

Larva can hide under doors. Theyre the easiest caste to sneak on the almayer, next in line being hunters. Runners are too big and wont sneak on easily unless you got a lazy PO or a giant pile of junk somewhere on the bird. As for the meta/powergaming argument doesn't really apply here because other castes are allowed to sneak on to the almayer after the fog has cleared.Challenger wrote: ↑27 Nov 2017, 20:29meta/powergaming, also really dumb of the larva and you can just evolve into a runner and hide then and there

Id consider it a dick move to the rest of the hive. High odds are you will die and just waste what could have been another t3 or something of use. Also meta as hell

Big difference than if you burst up there. Most likely you are also disobeying a queen in the process who is probably going all out on assaulting a FOB hoping more larva burst amd come assist

I am of the idea than that is very funny, specialy if you get a drone, imagine, the queen is killed and you become a queen inside the almayer already, that would be terrible for the Xenos, but very, very funny, specialy if you have access to some Sleeping Sindrome bodys

I would consider it meta, as you can't know what's up there as a larvae, and its a huge risk which is highly likely to end up in your being killed and weaken the hive.

Don't die at the front lines as a Larva, it's an offense that you can be noted for and even Xeno banned for.
Take that as you will.

just wait until you actually spawn in an infected host thats on the Almayer
luck based, but it happens often enough
from there you don't have to worry about getting in trouble with admins
also lone runner > hunter on almayer

also lone runner > hunter on almayer
I play Xeno 99% of the time. All castes.

You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

Re: Sneaking on to the Almayer as a Larva
Unless ordered to by a Queen, I'd stay away from solo sneaking onto the Almayer.
I don't believe it'd be too meta as if a xeno that is harassing the LZ sees the DS come back down with a batch full of new marines and previously wounded ones that are now fixed up, they would be able to infer that wherever the DS goes has to be a place with a large congregation of Marines. However, the problem with sneaking onto the Almayer as a Larva is that the high-risk, high-reward aspect of it means that, 9/10 times, you'll be killed while trying and thus, have wasted a possible spot for a more helpful hunter that picks off stragglers or marines just a few times too far from the frontlines or a T-3 Caste that could be aiding in an offense.

Re: Sneaking on to the Almayer as a Larva
There's multiple issues with trying to sneak onto the Almayer as a Larva. First of all, and most obviously, it's extremely risky. To do so, you need to bypass all the Marines on the frontlines, the ones patrolling the colony, then the FOB guard, and then you need to stay hidden inside the shuttle until it takes off, and sneak out without being seen by people in the Hangar until you grab a vent. Larvas are meant to be played safe and evolved
Second of all, due to the above point, it can be interpreted as throwing. We're not reported this too often, but players who are caught spawning in as a larva and immediately rushing towards the Marines and dying tend to be punished extremely hard. Even if that's not your intention, we can't tell when a larva is reported to have died after running into a Marine patrol, away from the nest
Finally, going out of your way to get onto the Almayer is kind of a trashy technique. We highly prefer this to happen naturally, rather than forcing it with Runners/Hunters/Drones suicide rushing the dropships

Re: Sneaking on to the Almayer as a Larva
I know it can be really scummy to people to do so. I'd never go on the Almayer as a larva, way too risky. But I have been on it as a runner or hunter before. I killed 1 or 2 people because it'd just be really unfair to wipe out all of the support roles.
It's scummy, and you'd be wasting lives. It's best to rarely do it.

Don't get yourself in trouble, also being a ship xenomorph is only so much fun until every vent is welded tight.

It's hilariously suicidal since there's so many ways it can go wrong and you probably won't end up being able to contribute much to your hive.
Troublesome, as usual.

its probably not kosher to do without the queens permission, but if you can secure that permission youre golden imo. even larvae are little soldiers, and if one can sneak aboard more easily in larva form then it is possible that a queen could find it agreeable to send one on a sabotage mission

I actually did this and evolved into a queen even when there was a queen back in LV. I was a drone in a containment cell that managed to befriend the researcherObsdark wrote: ↑27 Nov 2017, 21:05I am of the idea than that is very funny, specialy if you get a drone, imagine, the queen is killed and you become a queen inside the almayer already, that would be terrible for the Xenos, but very, very funny, specialy if you have access to some Sleeping Sindrome bodys
