I'll never forget hauling around the braindead CO riding a wheelchair around maintenance, and our 'brave' last stand against the Xeno horde invading the Sulaco (although really I caused us to get isolated and horribly mangled).

It was middle of August this year or something. Wandered around north canteen, tried to get into Bravo (They had guns and armour, so I thought they must be doing something right) and then Randers Norg called me over, told me I was in Alpha, and the rest is a blur. Shock reveal, I died squealing like a stuck pig full of porridge.

...I have not improved as a marine player.

I started back in February, my first ever game of SS13 was on cm. Don Ronaldo, bald pfc with a handlebar mustache. I tried to get into the old alpha prep, while I was delta. Got stuck in when an alpha ran out and in about 10 minutes xenos crashed into the cafeteria, DIRECTLY above me and another pfc who was getting ammo. Well, the door was pried open and I was promptly run over and spit on until I died.

I think I took a gas mask and air tank out of the emergency boxes as well, but I don’t remember.

I was quite used to the game mechanics of SS13 when i started playing CM and i open 5+ wiki for CM when i first started playing and i read every single word (Almayer), i spawn in as a marine, didn't know shit... I managed to gear up by the wiki and was quite confusing LZ and alamo, I dropped down and started fighting with my squad, (I didn't know about zeno life cycle then) and I didn't know macros too so i have to click the button all the way at the corner to weld my M41A, i got attacked and dragged to a zeno nest which is legit near to the CM, i talk to some of the marine there that i lost my gun and only have pistol, later on that one guy got up and gun blazing the zeno and i got up too and started shooting my pistol, sentinel tackle me and dropped my pistol and i used my boot knife, i slice to 2-3 times and the guy shoot it to gibs, then i started running out and got a random M41A from the ground and keep fighting then suddenly i walk into that corner and my character shake like my washing machine then i died and some worm came out (didn't know what's hugger and infection) then the larva gibs due to a shotgun guy and then i said to myself "damn dawg, this is pretty dank good" and then i found the CM discord channel... Etc

I came to CM without knowing english.
I just knew the basic, so I used expressions like "Yes, sir"; "No, sir" for every question who someone asked to me, other times the Google Translate mess everything and I was talking random things like "There's a orphan towards us", with the time my brain was processing and learning slowly, now you're seeing me almost fluent.
I don't remember the correct name of the character who I played but I wasn't going to say it anyways.

Remember, If you see Menace saying a wrong word, correct me please because I'm still improving my english.

Saw a bunch of marines at the LO line. Just went 'PUT ME IN ANY SQUAD' and that squad had to deal with a glue-eating bucktooth moron as we traversed metabox space station not knowing where 'Xenobiology' is. Now here we are.

I had my first round yesterday, It was pretty interesting.

I had survivor enabled, and luck would have it that my first ever round was as a survivor and naturally, I had no idea what to do. I was trapped somewhere I didn't know and didn't know how to escape, I grabbed a gun from the ground and waited, eventually an alien melted the doors, found me, and we skirmished, the alien was definitely toying with me, it knew it could win but it was having fun. Eventually, after shooting it and hitting it a few times it left, and I tried to do something about my wounds. Before I could figure out what to do, because I had no medical supplies and had no idea how to take care of acid burns and claw marks anyway, it returned.

It was intent on killing me this time I think, but another alien grabbed me and started dragging me out towards their nest. This is when I heard gunshots and lo and behold the marines arrived, they shot at the aliens and chased them off and one managed to shoot me in the head in the process as I ran screaming towards their lines, bloody and wounded. I was unconcious and they tried stabilizing me, pumped me full of drugs (they overdosed me) and zipped me up in a cryobag and sent me up the dropship.

Up in orbit I was operated on for around 20 minutes real time, as they extracted bullets, fixed my body, managed to infect it so I had necrotizing flesh, cleaned that out, and fixed my brain damage from the overdose of drugs I had received on the ground. At this point the CL walked in and we talked, he was horrified that the doctors hadn't done a terribly good job (I still couldn't move my right arm) and we went to his office to talk and file a complaint. While we were talking at his office we were interrupted, one of the aliens had apparently creeped on board with us, and not only that, we heard and then witnessed an XO committing suicide in the garden. I was rushed to CIC to talk with the Commander, as I was the only survivor from the colony as it happened. As I was giving a statement to him the round ended in a marine victory.

So there we go, my first round ever, I was a survivor and spent the majority of it on the brink of death and then attempting to sue the doctors. I think I'll stick around.

Joined as a marine and managed to guess my way to understanding without using hotkeys or knowing about them. I (think) later, in the attempt to learn nades, I activated it in briefing in the midst of Delta squad....on high pop (around 150 people on so the squad was huge). Luckily not too many people were hurt and I gladly served the 40 minutes of brig time for my fuckup. Obviously this story isn't complete without the fact that I was a Delta.

Shortly after a few more Standard marine CM rounds I decided playing xeno would be a better way to understand basics.

I was very lucky with my first round, since I already know the very basics of the game and someone taught me the rest, while also adivsing me in LOOC to look at the wiki after the round ends, and when I got down all I got to do was walk to the fight before the round ended, thus giving me a chance to look at the wikis. I basically got the best tutorial I could of hoped for in CM.

I'm pretty sure that my first round ever on CM was on Whiskey Outpost during the old Sulaco days. I spawned with a shotgun, which I didn't know how to use until I found the small unique action button in the corner of my screen. Every single time I fired my screen shook so hard that it took me some time to regain my footing and fire again. Either shotgun recoil was decreased or over time I got used to it, I don't know, but after dying I immediately closed the game and searched for an easier way to pump my shotgun. I found macros, and I slowly became more robust over time.
Phillip Driver, jack of all trades, reliable in some. Your typical jumpy flamer PFC or ammo fumbling CPL, always has a pair of ballistic goggles on him for unknown reasons. Will probably die mid sentence, because he talks (and gets bullied) too much for his own good. He has his moments though.

Jim, a Gen 2 Synthetic. Has a tendency to get melted to bits when planet side, and that's when he's behind barricades. Despite that, he's vigilant and always ready to drag you out of danger, even if it damages him in the process.

My first round was back on the old Sulaco where you still had to go to the LOs to get your ID. A buddy of mine from teamspeak had showed me the game telling me about base ss13 mainly. When we logged in we played a game of yog and after being bored outta my mind I suggested we try CM. We spawned in as baldies in cryo and had no clue how to play the game. We went into the random rooms north of cryo putting on spacesuits and such as the ship was being boarded by the aliens. When we ventured towards briefing we saw a marine behind barricades shooting and yelling and ran back to where we knew it was safe. We barricaded in one of the engine rooms wielding only tools from a toolbox. Eventually an alien broke in and kill both of us.

Next time I played CM I was on my own. Similar situation, aliens boarding no power, found a dead marine outside cryo with a shotgun and made sure it was loaded. I was walking towards briefing on alert. Suddenly a marine jumped out of the darkness and he spooked me so bad I blasted him and he died immediately. I then clearly remember just dropping the shotgun because my logic was "If I don't have the shotgun they won't know it was me". Jump forward a couple of months and I become a mentor, then mod, then admin and now retired.

My first round involved stumbling into the drop pod alone back on the Sulaco and getting launched to the surface, I got scared and wandered around for about three minutes before an alien found me and mauled me to death. Not the greatest first round but hey some of us are not the bravest souls when we're alone.

So, since I am a person that likes engineering and fixing stuff, of course I was on the engineering department first. The only thing was... I chose CE, which was the only thing that sayd to Ahelp if you had no clue how to play, which I did. Someone just gave me the guide and put me on my way. The funny thing was, I though cryo was my office. I was so mad when I found naked people coming in and out, but of course, I DID NOT KNOW HOW TO CHAT. Then I went to explore. I eventually found the engineering place, and inched my way from there.

Ice planet. I read the getting started guide so I had the basic ideas on what to do but still took some time to get dressed and forgot to actually load my gun. I just remember following around my squad's Spec instead of my SL until I got lost in the underground.

A better story was my 3rd round where I tried MP for the first time and spawned as the only MP. I had to have someone I arrested teach me how to use the brig. When I went to try it out on them they stabbed me in the head and ended up taking me to medbay. Also while chasing a squad engineer they led me to the engine room and then ran out and closed the door. They had engine room access but MPs didn't so I was stuck in there for 20 minutes before someone finally came to let me out.

Went down, stood in the first line, tried to shoot my gun, failed, died. Apparently you have to hold your gun with 2 hands. I think there was a predalien or something but I'm not sure.

I didn't know how to play SS13. so I ended up picking up equipment on the floor instead of left-clicking vendors.
Somehow got planet-side, didn't know how to open plasteel barricades so I broke one.
Got out, shot at some Xenos, ran away after getting injured.

Found out after a week of playing that you can heal different areas of your body by the little body section in the bottom right of the screen. I had only been healing my chest before that.
Good times.

I was a doctor. I tried to make meds, but the CMO told me chemistry was too complex for doctors.

I then got called a retard and shouted at by medics, despite explaining the CMO wouldn't allow me. I even ahelped asking if I could, and nope, had to listen to her.

The SM apparently got loose, and everyone was irradiated. CMO fed me an entire bottle of russian reds, and I'm left for dead as 'an uncloneable retard' while they helped her out. :|

I still can't recall why I came back eventually.

When I first joined, I was somewhat 'scared' of playing marine side after long hiatus from SS13 in general so I just played xeno, drone and I played about extra 10 xeno rounds before I tried marine for the first time.
