How does Carson get away with his shenanigans?

Post by RiskySikh » 03 Feb 2018, 02:18

So, Bill Carson is I guess a legend or a meme in the CM community. He is well known to kill all of the aliens by himself at Sulaco, and was a coward and always hide in cyro pods, but I always wonder how Carson gets away with his shenanigans. Like, I was an MP and he brought hookers, a parrot, and a pizza man. He caused so much shit for us, and then he had a mental breakdown and went inside his quarters. Is it due to the fact that with Carson's popularity he is pampered and spoiled by the mods? Plus, I ain't salt. I am just curious, because Carson has done a lot of unique stuff. I saw him lose his special rifle and gave me 17 A19 Magazines which god knows where he got it from.

Because he's a meme and a good one at that.

Quite frankly because Carson is a good CO, when he wants to win marines always win.

He's a meme that nobody liked at first but was embraced later by staff and community alike. They like pampering him.

Needless to say I wish mods would choose random nobodies to do special events with instead of popular ones like Carson. It could mix things up for many people.

Because Carson role-plays, follows the server rules, doesn't cause drama, doesn't salt and adds to the rounds so will play a long with him knowing he'll make things interesting.

Theres plenty of other players will give unique things, events and positions provided they follow the general baseline.

Very few players do, so you miss out on some cool stuff.

Carson is a flavor that which none of us can replicate. He in himself is a walking event, the expierence of playing with Carson is that you truly don't know what to expect ever. Because anything can happen in a Carson round. He also doesn't get over the top with his antics and its mostly entertaining for most of the players.

I already have RPeed with Carson several times, be CMP, be Marine, Be one of his SO. He never fails to make rounds interesting.

I wished I could have as much creativity as him. But oh well, I am not either well-known or play when the event-makers do play.

Actually, I gotta agree with that. I mean Carson makes the CM rounds more interesting like when Carson wore a bikini and locked himself in his office with a parrot. Good times...

More like make rounds interesting without being a shitler.

While 'Bill Carson' might care about the marines victory. Fitchance the player is here to make the round fun, not push for a win no matter the cost.

He's RP'd so well for so long, that most of the lesser rules don't apply to him, cause staff know he won't abuse them.

I think it's because Carson's earned trust by proving himself to be a competent roleplayer and interesting person to have in the game almost being an event in of himself. Whether the staff implement events or not the round almost always revolves around his position as a CO. Love him or hate him he's actually enjoyable and a healthy commander for people to have.

Rounds with Carson are honestly a lot of fun. I happened to have been the pizza ERT mentioned in OP and Carson's RP was just so funny to read. I see why the admins give him some props to use.

Because he has a cult and aside from that gets along with pretty well everyone, especially the powers that be, so yes, there will be favouritism as a point of fact.

As to Carson rounds they're hit and miss from a personal perspective, but I can understand (most of the time anyways) why they appeal universally to some.

Fitch has two things: An excellent roleplay style (in that he can RP on the spot and knows how to make a topic interesting) and that he's got a big reputation. That combination gives him alot of options/events to have fun with.
Commander Joseph 'Goliath' Clancy, occaisonal Charlie SL. Widowed father of three. Sufferer of PTSD and extremely Australian.
Corpswoman Judith 'Mèrci' Clancy, quiet, caring daughter looking out for her siblings.
Warrant Officer Emile Clancy, Strict ex-police chief, now a tired CMP.
Xenomorph Queen 'Pandinus' ruler of the Alpha Hive. "I want more children!"
'R'ka Us'Tribi' Serpent Trapper, hateful predator.

I've had a round once as CO, where they replaced the usual Survivors with Sulaco Marines, and added some "flavor" dead Sulaco Marines to fluff up an area as a battle ground.
