Whitelisting Specialists?

Post by stobarico » 11 Feb 2018, 17:40

Why this thread is here? I'm just curious about the popular opinnion on this matter

Now, why?
Well, Specialists are a pretty limited role with a huge firepower that usually matter A LOT on the battlefield, right now anyone can be a specialist and it's RNG based

What if people don't apply?
Considering it's one of the most popular roles, i think people will be willing to apply for it

This is likewise where bramb began saying he lives in albania. They additionally continued pinging me with the albanian banner. They called me female. They called me gay. They said I have down disorder. They called me different names too. Also, bramb said he lives in albania when he professes to live in The Netherlands too. Lying again.

It would never be needed or work. SL's arn't listed. Queen isn't, Doctors arn't, MP's arn't....roles with more power than a Specialist arn't Listed, so Spec's shouldn't be. My opinion, anyway.

I often humorously joke we should whitelist specialists, but it's exactly that, a joke.

I vote no.

It *should* be a thing.

But unlike the other whitelists, it should be quite loose that as long as you aren't a crewie that doesn't even know how to use radio you're accepted, specs are literally next in line after SL to take command, and if they don't even know how to use radio they shouldn't even be one.
In fact, most of the critical but not wlist roles should be like that.

Like engis should be people who've spent a couple rounds as MT, doctors, couple hours of researcher maybe.

We dont whitelist for Robustcompetence, we whitelist for Role Play.

I dont need 4 more people on this ship RPing by measuring their gun's length.

Guys, let's just do the Baystation 12 thing where you need to have played on the server for X amount of time to be a job, and after 2 weeks you can be a spec. 3 weeks for SL, 4 for XO, etc. etc. etc.

Whitelisting should be for high rp roles.

I could for example get behind a whitelisted Liason or whitelisted CMP.

I feel whitelisting goes too far, but some method of gating off specialist to those who have played a while would be something I'm for.

I feel all the special squad roles should be time locked for new players. I've lost count of the times I've had to teach engineers and specialists how to use their equipment as a squaddie. And then there are times where someone with a stupid name like "Jesus Camp" will take the squad specialist or leader role and then run off into the dark to robust ayys on their own and never be seen or heard from again.

I'm surprised there's no soft whitelist for certain roles.
No long application process, just needing to send a PM to a staff member to play certain roles.

Whitelist is interesting, but not feasible.

4 slots in the entire platoon, a huge potential, yet, 50% screwed by baldies that are useless, and even worse, that FF with the huge firepower they got.

Why it shouldn't never be whitelisted :
Whitelist process is based on reputation, not on facts. Whitelist is based on the behaviour, the RP, and the general notoriety of someone. Or, why we would require the whitelist on spec is for robustness.

What are the different criterias you would use to define robustness ? Killing ? Not FFing ? Following orders and not be a solo-rambo-dick ?

It is easier to whitelist a role based on RP and quality-interactions between players than robustness.

There is just no way to get around that.

And believe me, that's painful to watch (yesterday night, Delta's spec used his coin on standard's marines marinevendor.).

I'd rather Liaison wasn't whitelisted. I've had a ton of fun with the role, but I'm not active enough in the forum nor well-known enough in the community to be eligible for a whilelist.

One hundred percent behind whitelisting CL role. It breaks my heart when people role CL only to don the BPV and grab the pistol and rambo down to the colony after sending a fax. "Going colony. Send PMC pls."

On the same vein I think a CMP whitelist would be interesting if they added some rules/special powers similar to that of CO. I don't mean the ability to BE or anything. Perhaps additional provisions to arrest COs without faxing first etc.

Dunno. Just my 2 cents
